Plug has been deployed in Europe for two years now, where it already has more than 200+ employees. The company is positioned as the European leader in hydrogen turnkey solutions.

As the demand for hydrogen increases, the group relies on partnerships and launches the construction of its own green hydrogen production plants strategically located.

The first one, whose construction project has started, will be in the port of Antwerp and will generate 35-tonnes-per-day of gaseous and liquid hydrogen.

Position Summary


To support this core project of building and launching this first European plants, we are looking for an Hydrogen Production Project Manager.


You will join the Hydrogen Operations Europe team, and you will be responsible to lead Plug Power's plants development projects as the operation owner.

You will interface with the engineering and project management teams to represent the site's future operational team.


With your experience and vision, both technical and operational, you will contribute to the technical choices that will allow us to operate the plant in good conditions of safety, operability and maintainability.


You will carry out this first project from start to finish, you will ensure the commissioning of the plant as well as the start-up.

Core


Responsibilities:

Collaborating with the Europe Hydrogen Operations Director, your mission will be to:

  • Contribute to the success of the project, by creating the operational vision of the site and by preparing the ground for the future plant operation team.
  • As Operational owner, integrate into the project team and position yourself as the operational interlocutor in the technical discussions of the next phases of basic design, Feed, preFID and EPC.
  • Participate in the drafting of operational documents including the operating and maintenance philosophies.
  • Specify the required design objectives to ensure future good conditions of safety, operability and maintainability.
  • Lead the reflection on production management with the _Electricity supply team_ in order to optimize the production planning process.
  • Involving _Transport and Distribution team_ and _HSE team_, establish operational processes for offtake loading of both gaseous and liquid Hydrogen.
  • Define the monitoring and maintenance plan for the plant (certification, daily/regular check, periodic maintenance, revisions, maintenance processes and suppliers, etc.)
  • Be part of the commissioning and participates to the plant startup.
  • Become the operational and industrial referent of the _Operation Hydrogen Europe team_ and once the plant running be the central engineering contact for:
  • Plant support, improvement, optimization,
  • Implementation of KPIs in close collaboration with the plant management team,
  • Monitoring the optimization of production plans,
  • Followup of reliability and maintenance (preventive & curative)
  • Participate in the following projects by benefiting from the learning of the project one.
  • Create and maintain a central feedback file: on the project, the plant that is running and following projects in a process of continuous improvement of the plants.
Education and Experience


You have an engineering degree or university degree / ideally electrolyze process or at least chemical engineering or related degree with 5+ years relevant technical experience.

You have 'Hands-on' approach with onsite plant experience.

Ideally, you have a first experience in Hydrogen, or at least in with under pressure gas and/or cryogenic gas (production, filling, storage).

You have worked in Seveso environments and are fully aware of the security issues on such sites. In particular, you have encountered risks of explosion (AtEx), gas under pressure and/or

Cryogenics (risk of cold burns, etc.). You are obsessed with security.


Requirements:


  • You are proactive and the idea of managing this strategic project motivates you greatly,
  • You are autonomous, but still have good team spirit: you will appreciate to work both unsupervised and as part of a technical crossteam on the project,
  • You keep a global vision of the technology, and conduct Capex/Opex reflections,
  • You are a good communicator and have good writing skills,
  • You are rigorous, detailsoriented while being adaptable and innovative to evolve in an organization that will have to structured,
  • You are looking for challenges and are ready to dive into a booming sector.
