Summary / Role Purpose
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of software products and supporting systems.

You will engage in platform development activities, interacting with and enabling colleagues in very diverse teams across the company and the world.

You are comfortable with software best-practices, security best-practices, Git, Linux, Python, continuous integration and continuous testing, cloud providers, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Your code is clean, readable and well documented and can serve as a starting example for others.

As a skilled software expert your colleagues will rely on you to address common challenges as you implement and deploy reliable, secure and robust environment that enables other developers to deploy containerized services and build new solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Participates in planning, architecture, and research to build an onprem and cloud environment for other developers.
Collaborates with DevOps teams to streamline software release cycles in onprem and cloud environments.
Collaborates with other development teams to support adoption and learning of the environment and associated tools created within the team.
Understands and employs best practices, in particular in the area of authentication, authorization and container security
Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and subsystems
Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
Works under the general supervision of a development manager

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

BS Computer Science, or related field with 2 years' experience or MS in cloud development and operations
Working experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, Amazon Web Services, Azure, virtual infrastructure, cloud security, Python, git, REST and/or gRPC APIs usage, design and implementation
A previous experience in the simulation domain
Good communication (French and English) and interpersonal skills, with very different level of employees
Experience with Traefik, KeyCloak, Consul, Open Telemetry, Grafana, Terraform, OpenLens, kubectl, FastAPI, Bazel

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Technical knowledge and experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, virtual infrastructure, cloud security, Python, git, REST and/or gRPC APIs usage, design and implementation
Experience with web development, objectoriented design, C/C++/C#
Experience in a largescale commercial software development environment
Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
