We will provide full product training when you start in role, with ongoing support as you develop.


What will you do?

  • Support our customers by providing installation and commissioning, calibrations, qualifications, Preventative Maintenance (PM), troubleshooting and repair services, and training services in a professional and timely manner
  • Provide responsive telephone and onsite support and work to ensure that the customer is successful in the use of their instrumentation
  • Provide basic product training on our instrumentation to our customers
  • Be familiar with and follow policies around handling of spare parts: ordering, usage, returns and inventory; maintain your own local spare parts stock
  • Produce timely and accurate reports of your own activities and follow up current cases using our reporting system called ServiceMax, i.e. engineer reports, planned maintenance reports, installation reports, expense reports etc.
  • Carry out instrument refurbishments in our technical office in Paris
  • Provide Hotline backup support if needed
  • Maintain technical competency by attending trainings, employee meetings and remaining up to speed on new products, markets, customers and competitors
  • Act as a Thermo Fisher Ambassador, maintaining a high level of customer allegiance by building strong customer relationships and promoting an excellent customer experience

_ A typical day in your new role:_
- _ Appointment with your customer to carry out an installation: Preparation of the project upstream in collaboration with your Application Support and Sales colleagues. Delivery and installation of instrument, settings and technical calibrations. Your colleagues in Applications Support will then take over for customer training._


Who we are looking for:


  • Several years' experience working handson with complex instrumentation, either as a Field Service Engineer or onsite Technician. Instrumentation preferably IVD instrumentation or medical devices, although we are open to other fields
  • A degree or qualification in Electronics/Electro Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Comfortable working in a customerfacing role, with a customerfocussed mindset
  • Selfsufficient, very independent, happy working alone and planning own schedule
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Fluent in French; good level of English also required to communicate with colleagues across the Business, often in other countries (essential)
  • A valid Driver's Licence
  • Willing and able to travel within your territory 5 days per week, including some overnight stays (c. 4 overnights per month)
  • Familiarity with ServiceMax or similar an advantage, but not essential
