Description

Duties:

The incumbent supports Mission's efforts to advance U.S.

policy objectives in France by assisting with preparation and dissemination of taskers to Embassy action officers and constituent posts; monitoring progress to ensure timely completion of taskers; checking outgoing material for compliance with established procedures and formats; receiving, recording and routing of incoming correspondence and documents; drafting of thank you letters and other correspondence; acting as gifts officer; handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests; serving as Executive Office's primary equipment/supply officer; reviewing special captioned cables; backing up the Ambassador's Staff Aide and Executive Office OMS staff; meeting and escorting visitors and uncleared personnel to and from the Executive Office Controlled Access Area; completing special projects as assigned by the Ambassador, DCM and the Ambassador's OMS.

  • Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

Two years progressively responsible experience required in an administrative, office management, government services and/or para-professional environment with customer service orientation, which demonstrates the ability to perform the job.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Good knowledge of general office management practices and procedures is required.

Completion of 2 years of college/university studies is required.

LANGUAGES (These will be tested):
English (W-R-S), Level - Fluency is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES (These may be tested):
Good interpersonal, communication and strong organizational skills. Abilitty to demonstrate initiative. Ability to perform routine duties with little to no direct supervision. Ability to use PCs and standard MS office suite products (MS Word, Excel, Outloot). Ability to type 30 words per minute required.

  • FS on LWOP and CS with reemployment rights**IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preferenceeligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD214 ("Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty"), equivalent documentation, or certification. A "certification" is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
**This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
