We are looking for a Food Safety & Toxicology Scientist to join our Global Quality & Food Safety Standards and Risk Management department, in our Chemical Safety team.
Our mission is to ensure that Danone creates, manufactures and delivers it's products everyday, with no compromise on quality and food safety, by strickly following our Danone compliance policy and anticipate any quality and food safety risks.
As a Food Safety & Toxicology Scientist, you will a key resource to identify new chemical risks and toxicological evolutions, in order to assess chemical safety risks and, be a key actor to the deployment of science-based standards to ensure an end-to-end chemical risks management in order to secure consumer safety and Danone's licence to operate.
Your main missions will be to:
- Review chemical safety data, conduct toxicological risk assessment on ingredients/raw materials and packaging materials for the Danone product portfolio in support of new products developments (safe by design), development of science-based standards and in context crises/incidents
- Investigate and implement new risk assessment methodologies in the context of business support
- As part of company's Horizon Scanning activity, lead the tracking of emerging science on new chemical food safety risks and food safety issues relevant to the Danone portfolio
- Develop and drive risk communication in the context of food safety risk management activities and continuous improvement of Danone Quality and Food Safety Management System
- To be able to identify and engage when required with scientific experts, external scientific organizations and trade associations in order to support Danone's food safety strategic objectives
- Drive and manage crossfunctional projects related to the area of quality & food safety risk assessment and management
You would mainly interact with:
- internal : peers on the chemical safety team and overall QFS department, gleam members of corporate and business units functions (QFS, R&I, C&P, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs)
- external : External scientific experts, Scientific and Trade Associations networks

- You have a Master degree in a related field, such as eco)toxicology, risk assessment, food safety, environmental safety, biology, physiology, (bio)chemistry, pharmacology. A PHD, and Board certification in Toxicology (i.e., ERT, DABT) is a plus.
- You have strong skills and experience in reviewing, interpreting, summarizing, and communicating on scientific literature
- You show curiosirty and have some knowledge on New Approach Methodologies in risk assessment (i.e., computational and in vitro toxicological testing)
- Understanding on food safety regulations
- Experience and competencies in project management
- Strong communication skills, open to communicate and build network internally and externally
- Ability to convince, to work with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to different ways of working/cultures
- Good proficiency in English (spoken, written)
The role requires:
- Good knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance as well as food safety management
- Good communication skills and being able to defend sciencebased positions
- Autonomy and willingness to adapt within a fastchanging business environment
- Demonstrated project management skills and stakeholder (corporate & local) management
- Travel %: routinely up to 10% of total working days.
