Strategic Logistics Partner Management – Automotive Business

The aim of this role is to support conceptualizing, designing and deploying a cost-efficient 3PL footprint setup covering the business requirements.

In close alignment with purchasing this role is key for selecting and developing Third-Party Logistics providers within EMEA.

Part of the job is to integrate and coordinate logistics processes by understanding on-site capabilities, ensuring IT integration, and identifying dependencies within the distribution network.

Focus areas will be on performance measurement and improvement by aligning service levels with stakeholders, maintaining compliance documentation, and evaluating costs.

Key Responsibilities


Integration and Coordination:

Processes and Capabilities:
Understanding the logistics processes and capabilities on-site, such as warehousing, receiving goods, and contracts with logistics partners

Ensure IT integration:
Align operational needs from 3PL with IT functions within SKF to ensure smooth operations

Dependencies:
Identifying dependencies on the overall distribution network and shared contracts with 3PLs in close alignment with transportation team

Performance Measurement and Improvement:
Ensure operational business readiness and availability/service level: Align needed service level with internal stakeholders

Documentation and Compliance:
Ensuring that necessary documentation is maintained by the 3PL to prove compliance during audits

Quality & Process Requirements:
Align and update set of guidelines concerning quality/lean requirements including necessary certification

Define charging requirements:
Establish activity based costing in close alignment with controlling

Cost Evaluation:
Evaluating costs associated with different logistics scenarios, including manual 3PL operations and high bay storage

Regular Reporting:
Keeping clients informed about performance metrics and the effectiveness of the partnership

Proactive, sustainable and strategic Supplier Management:

Clear Communication:
Maintaining transparency and clear communication with 3PLs to ensure alignment with requirements and expectations

Regular Reporting:
Providing regular reports detailing performance metrics such as order accuracy, shipping times, and inventory turnover

Client Relationships:
Fostering trust and collaboration with clients by providing tailored solutions and flawless execution

Supplier Relationships:
Managing relationships with suppliers to ensure smooth operations

Technology Integration:
Using technology for real-time tracking, reporting, and automation to enhance performance

Setting Objectives:
Establishing clear objectives and aligning resources to meet customer demands .

Market Analysis:
Analyzing market trends and current 3PL logistics footprint to draft strategic decisions and improve distribution management in close alignment with purchasing

EMEA 3PL footprint:
Develop, conceptualize and deploy concepts to optimize 3PL footprint within EMEA

Translation of Requirements (Customer, Quality,…) into Processes:

Process Alignment & Quality Compliance:
Aligning logistics processes with the overall supply chain strategy and ensuring that 3PLs adhere to these processes - also considering overall Quality Policy and requirements

Operational Efficiency:
Implementing strategies to optimize workflows, such as real-time tracking and adjusting warehouse workflows to improve delivery speed
Transformational projects
Analyze current footprint and contribute to finding optimization potential to reduce cost, improve service or both
Re-shape the logistics following the strategic "guiding Supply Chain principles"
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a key operational interface between internal stakeholders and service providers.
Support sales and factory organizations with tailored logistics solutions for customer requirements.
Work closely with the Logistic Control Tower and Business Support team.
Participate in or even lead local and international logistics projects

Requirements

Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field, with several years of experience in logistics operations and 3PL management in an international environment
Strong knowledge of warehousing, transportation, supplier management, and logistics processes, with experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and performance management (KPIs, cost control)
Proven ability to manage stakeholders and suppliers, lead or contribute to logistics projects, and drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency
Fluent in English is mandatory; good knowledge of French would be a strong plus

This position will be located within the EMEA region, such as Lüchow, Schweinfurt, Tongeren, or Saint-Cyr sur Loire.
