You will be attached to the Bars & Wires research center in Maizieres Les Metz (50 persons), in the Metallurgy and Steel Design Department which is composed of 18 researchers (5 engineers and 13 technicians) working on design of steel grades from definition of steel composition to its transformations, including not only ArcelorMittal process but also customers'ones.

The main transformations in our customers' plants are hot and cold forging and cold heading for parts dedicated mainly to automotive industry, trucks, agricultural industry.

All the tools to design and characterize new steel grades are available in the laboratory and the campus: pilots for samples production, metallurgical and mechanical characterizations and other specific properties.

Your role

In a context of new mobilities and process decarbonation, new solutions must be developed to answer these new requirements and restrictions.

The job consists in developing competencies of the R&D Center Bars&Wires in cold and warm forging processes from the design of grades dedicated to these transformations to the definition of the adapted process for the customers.
