    JOB DESCRIPTION

    CRUISE DIRECTOR

    A CFC LEADERSHIP ROLE

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    • The Cruise Director plans, prepares, and delivers exciting events and programs to CFC guests, focusing on upholding the company's strong values of enrichment and entertainment, while recognizing guests' needs.
    • It is your responsibility to create a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business, which in turn, will increase revenue and profitability of the company.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure that all events including lectures, performances and ship wide events are brand aligned and run in a smooth, efficient, and timely manner in accordance with company standards.
    • Demonstrate the ability to create and curate special performances onboard.
    • In conjunction with the Broadcast Manager and Stage Manager, monitor the performance of all Entertainment Technicians.
    • Monitor guest satisfaction and report any issues/concerns, and suggestions to the Hotel General Manager; must have strong hosting abilities, also be an enthusiastic and confident leader with great social skills.
    • Be the Master of Ceremonies at special events, cocktail parties, and functions.
    • Make announcements on the Public Address (PA) System, including safety announcements.
    • Ensure that guest entertainment and activities are carefully designed and aligned with guest needs, also must be at the CFC brand standards.
    • Guide and support the Entertainment Team to develop activity programming sensitive to guest needs and demographics, and itinerary fluctuations.
    • Coach and rehearse performances with the Entertainment Team to ensure that standards are in line with CFC Service and Performance Standards.
    • Promote all performances and enrichment onboard to ensure attendance and satisfaction scores are reached and maintained, this should be done by interacting with the guests around the ship and listed within the daily programme provided to guests by CFC.
    • Keep inventories of all equipment and follow up on faulty equipment that has been reported in a prompt and efficient manner; schedule the Entertainment Department, as required, being aware of other departments and the ship's operational needs.
    • Report to the Hotel General Manager and coordinate with other Department Heads, also remaining in contact with Blackburn International management team as required.
    • Demonstrate the ability to handle difficult guests and/or situations with grace, professionalism and rational thinking and the ability to present adequate solutions.
    • Provide the highest level of comfort and service to guests; manage service according to guest flow.
    • Lead and support a multi-cultural team, maximizing crew satisfaction, productivity, and retention, lead team bonding activities and help to boost teams' mental wellbeing.
    • Provide the necessary guidance/training and information to the Entertainment Team, in accordance with company standards and operational needs.
    • Provide competent leadership to all direct reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Conducting performance reviews, including discipline as needed, ensuring Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) compliance and onboard training, succession planning, crew communication and recognition.
    • Ensure you always wear the appropriate and task specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for your duties onboard. Always use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.
    • Always uphold impeccable grooming standards within your team by complying with CFC's Image and Uniform Standards; ensure that company property is appropriately secured and protected, especially during rough weather conditions, to prevent unnecessary loss or damage.
    • Become knowledgeable and ensure your team are informed about itinerary-related ports of call, shore excursions and shipboard activities such as events, entertainment, and programs.
    • Positively contribute to achieving/succeeding Entertainment KPI goals (quality & financial) for the Entertainment Department; have full knowledge about safety & security procedures and can operate in line with all Public Health, Environmental and Safety & Security Policies; participate in all training concerning onboard training, safety & security, fire prevention, evacuation exercises as required by the company.

    YOUR PROFILE

    • A required minimum of 4-5 years' experience in an entertainment or similar position in a premium brand hotel, resort, or cruise ship; shipboard experience is required.
    • Fluent in French and English - must be able to address any kind of information in an adequate manner with excellent oral and written English communication skills; must be sociable and confident and demonstrate enthusiasm when interacting with guests; a strong presence for on- and off-stage presentations and television appearances is required; must have experience in leading multi-cultural teams; flexible, stress resistant, committed team player; proactive problem-solving skills are required.
    • Strong administration skills are preferred and must be proficient with PC based databases, spread sheets, and word processing systems.
    • Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards are required, with excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies, team builder with exceptional work ethic, organizational and motivational skills, and coaching abilities.

    • Ensure appropriate appearance and clothing according to the updated Grooming Standards.
