6-month long internship, you will play a pivotal role in assisting INNOSEA in the

Development of conceptual design software for offshore wind turbine jackets.

What you will be doing
:

INNOSEA has developed

PREDIN, a dedicated tool for pre-foundation sizing of fixed offshore wind turbines. Using basic site data, PREDIN provides an initial estimate of dimensions that minimize the total structure mass while adhering to offshore standards (DNV, NORSOK, etc.). PREDIN was developed in Python by a team of offshore engineers based in Nantes, and the intern's mission is to develop new modules for PREDIN with direct interaction with this team.

  • Initially, the intern will need to conduct bibliographic research to grasp the entire theory behind PREDIN. They will also need to familiarize themselves with the software and calculation cores.
  • Then, the intern will develop automated routines for preprocessing and postprocessing jacket strength using SACS software. ULS, FLS and Seismic conditions will have to be covered. Moreover, soilstructure interaction must be accounted for, for different soil profile types.
  • Finally, validation of the developed modules will be undertaken.
  • In parallel to the abovementioned tasks, the intern will support the development team to improve existing PREDIN modules.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS-

  • Good knowledge of structural assessment, hydrodynamic loadings.
  • Knowledge of a commercial software for finite element analysis (SACS, ANSYS, etc).
  • Good programming skills (Python, MATLAB).
  • Knowledge of the principles and challenges of jacket structures.

  • Be a lastyear offshore energy engineering (or equivalent) student.
  • Possess experience working with offshore structures.
  • Hold expertise in structural mechanics.
  • Demonstrate strong synthesis and writing skills.
  • Have proficient English language skills.
  • Act autonomously.

Desirable-

  • Expertise in offshore wind turbine foundations.
  • Experience in hydrodynamics.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering.
  • Proficiency in French.
