The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) is a leading organisation whose mission is to

contribute to public health protection by engaging with an international community of experts and stakeholders. We achieve this

by promoting access to safe medicines and healthcare through the elaboration of quality standards, which are recognised as a

scientific benchmark worldwide. The EDQM's standards for medicines and their ingredients, compiled in the European

Pharmacopoeia, are legally binding in its 39 European member States (and the European Union) and are also widely used

across the globe in the human and animal health sectors. The EDQM also plays a crucial role in the areas of blood transfusion,

organ, tissue and cell transplantation and in developing and setting consumer health standards, such as for cosmetics and food

contact materials.


Your role
As the Head of the EDQM's Publications Section, you will focus on ensuring the effective planning and production of a wide

range of printed and electronic publications and scientific texts to a very high standard and within pre-defined timelines,


in particular:
contribute to the drafting, monitoring and evaluation of the EDQM's publications strategy;
work with other EDQM entities to assess current and medium-term publication needs and priorities;
co-ordinate with internal and external stakeholders on the design, planning and production of specific EDQM
publications, including the establishment of delivery plans;

co-ordinate the production process, ensuring and enhancing timely and efficient delivery of publications and adherence
to quality standards;
set and monitor productivity and quality indicators for the work of the Section (including Level 2 Publications HelpDesk
support and user training);
supervise and coach team members; monitor and evaluate progress and results produced by the team and by external
service providers and contractors;
keep abreast and evaluate the impact of developments in the publications sector (e.g. software and best practices);
drive the development of new publication products, tools and ways of working; ensure the establishment of effective
project and resource plans; co-ordinate implementation;
develop and manage budgets, where possible optimising resources for cost-effectiveness;
contribute to and/or review technical specifications; analyse tenders; negotiate and follow up with contractors and
service providers;
participate in the EDQM's quality management system for publication-related processes.


What we are looking for

You must:
hold a higher education degree or qualification in a relevant field (e.g., publishing, journalism, scientific communication,
digital media, graphic design);
have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in publication processes, including electronic and/or online
publications, graphic design, and experience of managing teams;
have a very good knowledge of one of the

Professional and technical expertise:
- experience in managing the publication process in the context of scientific texts; understanding of scientific writing,

research methodologies and publication ethics;
- sound knowledge of specific technologies such as XML and related standards (e.g., XSLT, XSL-FO, DTD, Schema,

CSS) for media-neutral content preparation, storage and publication for all media;
- knowledge of DTP-based publication processes.
