Role Description

In the role of Principal Engineer, you will be entrusted with the helm of design, development, and delivery for our payment processing systems.

Your profound expertise will guarantee the efficient and secure management of every transaction, powering journeys for the millions of passengers relying on our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting the technical strategy for payments at Masabi, creating architecture and solving problems for the longterm business through best practice approaches to operational excellence, rapid timetomarket delivery, and an economical total cost of ownership
• Driving successful delivery of the payment team's products across Masabi and with external partners, designing solutions, coordinating development, identifying and resolving issues and arbitrating disputes
• Using your deep understanding of business drivers that make products successful to influence product decisions and build systems that anticipate and enable change, liaising with product managers to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements
• Representing the payments area in Architecture Group meetings, participating in setting and improving best practices/standards, continuously driving improvements in tooling, design and innovation for Engineering across Masabi
• Becoming a mentor and guide to other members of the payments team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning, engaging in code and design reviews to maintain high standards of quality and reliability

About You

• Extensive experience in payment systems engineering with a deep understanding of payment gateways, processing and security standards
• Proven track record in designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining highperformance payment processing systems
• Great knowledge of industry best practices for secure transaction processing and of the implementation of these standards
• Proficiency in modern programming languages and techniques
• Passionate about technology and customer experiences
• Must be approachable, patient and an excellent communicator, a team player
• Experience taking a leading role in delivering multiple complex and innovative solutions
• Flexible to changing priorities in a fastpaced delivery environment
• Comfortable presenting and knowledge sharing with both technical and nontechnical audiences
• Proven evangelism of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
