POSITION OVERVIEW

The Process Engineering Leader reports to the Process & Maintenance Manager and has primary responsibility for driving process improvements in manufacturing in Blois.

This is an important position, where innovative thinking and sound engineering principles must be applied to drive continuous improvement year over year.

The Process Engineering will work closely and collaboratively with other functions in the facility to deliver manufacturing excellence through optimal equipment setup.


PRIMARY DUTIES
Build and share equipment knowledge

  • Develop and maintain Equipment Technical Standard (Technical Principal, User Guide, FMEA, standard workinstruction and parameters optimisation rules).
  • Develop knowledge database on physical theory and principles, to explain, manage and optimise equipment setup according to our product specificities.
  • Closely interact with R&D and Quality to understand Raw Material and Finish Good melting and cooling properties, with the objective to preset and optimise utilization of each equipment.
  • Closely interact with Maintenance, Production and Quality to develop and maintain process FMEA.
  • Actively bring in new ideas and manufacturing concepts & processes by visiting customers, suppliers, attending trade shows, training, visiting other HBF sites, technical magazines, etc... to support a learning environment and culture
Drive productivity and process improvements in manufacturing in our Facility in Blois.

  • Closely work with Production teams to drive OEE improvements, through process stability evaluation, and identification of improvement potentials.
  • Closely work with Maintenance team and metrology leader, to ensure risk of metrology equipment failure is minimized, and followup is optimized.


Lead scale-up & process optimisation for new product and raw material introduction, as well as process adequation for product transfers from or to other sites.


  • As an active member of the Management of Change board, he ensure process setup remains optimal and is improved where relevant, through updated workinstruction and scaleup confirmation. This results in updating workinstruction steps and parameter with SAP.
  • Work collaboratively with other functions in manufacturing, Quality, supply chain, R&D, sales, marketing and finance to develop manufacturing innovations and process improvements that will deliver value to our customers.
Troubleshoot manufacturing problems

  • In support to Production and Quality, document and address issues with timely corrective actions.
  • Process data analysis, to ensure relevant data analysis on production stability, and identify potential deviation from optimal equipment utilization, to define relevant improvements.
  • Promotes EHS and Quality and ensure that the quality and safety rules are followed consistently reflecting improvements, corrective actions and any other inputs on the SOPs related to Production.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

PLUS

  • 3 years work experience in the specialty chemical or closely related industry involving mixing and viscous fuilds
  • Process knowledge in mixing, filling, extrusion
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes, including process design and development.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.
  • First experience in Lean and Six Sigma methodologies with special focus on problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Good spoken & written English
  • Solid computer skills, MS Office and data analysis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years' experience working with Batch or continuous Chemical processes (ideally Emulsion Polymers, Water Based Adhesives, Hot Melts and Reactive Hot Melts Adhesives).
  • Knowledge of adhesives manufacturing equipment.
  • Project management training or certification
  • Lean Six Sigma training or certification
