Role Overview


We are looking for

  • As part of the Research Shared Operations Direction, within the Sustainable Innovation Processes team, you develop, implement and maintain methodologies to place the sustainability of R&I projects at bestinclass level.

We count on you for

  • You will bring your expertise in assessing the environmental impact of Solvay Group's products and processes, contributing to ecodesign and the building of circular economy.
  • As a privileged partner of the Research & Innovation, Industrial and Sustainable Development functions, your skills are fully in line with the Group's strategy aimed at providing sustainable products and solutions for our customers.

Mission and key responsibilities:

  • Insure that R&I projects can be assessed and piloted according to the sustainability ambition of the Group
  • Maintain the methods and tools developed internally or externally acquired, while being part of their improvement, focusing on circularity, carbon footprint and substances of concern
  • Develop an ecodesign and an ecoinnovation approach and make them available to R&I teams
  • Carry out life cycle assessments (LCA) of existing and future products & processes in collaboration with the Research & Innovation teams, industrial managers of Business Units, members of the Sustainable Development function and with customers who use our products
  • Contribute to the assessment of the environmental impacts of innovative processes and ecoconception: in identifying areas for improvement of existing processes
  • Identify trends in standards, new customer needs and are a source of proposals to define the technical orientations of the team

For that purpose you:

  • Coordinate your action with the Sustainability Champion of R&I, in charge of supporting and challenging the researchers community to reach the objectives given at 2030 horizon
  • Propose new approaches aligned with best practices and uptodate recommendations from SD networks and consortia
  • Work within a worldwide network ; learning, sharing and capitalizing your expertise and skills inside the global R&I and SD communities
  • Distribute and valuate your work internally and externally
  • Share and capitalize on your knowhow and skills

You will Bring
Education and Experience

  • Master 2 in chemistry, biology and / or General engineer with specialization in LCA of products and processes;
  • Experience of 5 to 10 years minimum in the field of LCA; experience or bases of LCA for circular economy would be a plus;
  • Excellent knowledge of sustainability concepts, principles and tools (LCA);
  • Sensitivity to the economic & environmental approach;
  • Practice of software(s) (SIMAPRO, GABI...) and LCA databases;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Business fluent English (written / oral).

Additional Information

  • Primary location is Saint Fons, France, but remote work is possible.
