We are looking to hire a

Machine Learning PhD Engineer, to join our team of specialists in a dynamic and growing company and leader in marine renewables.


What you will be doing?:

As our

Machine Learning PhD Engineer, you will be working in a highly dynamic environment and collaborating closely with teams from one of the largest wind turbine manufacturers to develop the next generation of offshore wind turbine design tools.

In this dynamic context, we are actively seeking PhD graduates

While developing a good understanding of metamodels using advanced machine learning techniques, your objectives will be:


Mastering Industry Tools:


  • Utilize specialized software such as OrcaFlex for analysis and simulation of offshore wind turbine systems.

Developing Model Reduction Methods:


  • Design and implement model reduction methods specifically applied to offshore wind turbine foundations.
  • Optimize models to ensure optimal accuracy while reducing computational complexity.

Exploring Machine Learning Techniques:


  • Implement innovative metamodels for a more efficient approach to load calculation.

Programming and Development:


  • Use programming languages, including Python, MATLAB, etc., to implement developed methodologies.
  • Collaborate with the team to integrate solutions into the overall project framework.

Collaboration and Communication:


  • Work closely with various team members and project partners.
  • Regularly present progress, results, and conclusions during team meetings and review committees.


The role is based in Nantes, France, and the incumbent will have the right to work and reside in France.

In this hybrid role, you will have a defined work location that includes remote work from home, in the office, and offshore/on-site as agreed with your supervisor.

Flexibility to working hours and willing travel locally and internationally may be required occasionally.


What we are looking for
:

PhD degree in hydrodynamics, structural analysis, or a related field. Engineering background, preferably with a specialization in hydrodynamics, structural analysis, or a related field.

  • Three years of handson experience in developing numerical models, specifically in hydrodynamics, offshore structural analysis, or a related domain.
  • Solid background in engineering with a preference for specialization in hydrodynamics, offshore structural analysis, or related fields.
  • Indepth understanding of hydrodynamic principles and a comprehensive grasp of challenges associated with load calculation on offshore structures.
  • Strong programming skills, particularly in languages suited for modeling and analysis (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and implement model reduction methods and learning techniques.
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills.

Desirable:

  • Initial experience in the offshore wind sector
  • Familiarity with machine learning methods and metamodel development.
  • Demonstrated experience in using simulation tools such as OrcaFlex.
  • Demonstrated experience in using structural FEA Analysis software such as ANSYS.
  • Collaborative development of numerical tools
  • Professional French.
