ABOUT SDSN
The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has been operating since 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General.

SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement.

We aim to accelerate joint learning and promote integrated approaches that address the interconnected economic, social, and environmental challenges confronting the world.

SDSN works closely with United Nations agencies, multilateral financing institutions, the private sector, and civil society. It is directed by Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs and operates through offices in New York, Paris, and Kuala Lumpur.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Finance and grant management:
  • Manage entries in the accounting system (Intacct)
  • Manage the Paris books, including compiling supporting documentation and archiving
  • Help manage the Paris bank account (initiating payments, monitoring transactions, approving payments as required, etc.)
  • Prepare quarterly cash requests to the New York office
  • Help prepare the annual budgets for the Management & Operations department
  • Help with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes
  • Prepare budgets for upload to the organization's financial system
  • Help with bookkeeping for the New York office, as needed
  • Prepare and manage invoicing for service providers and affiliates; prepare donor invoices (for Paris and New York)
  • Help with preparing donor financial reports
  • Review staff expense reports
  • Review subcontractor financial reports

Payroll and human resources:


  • Enter prepay variables into the thirdparty payroll system (ADP or other)
  • Manage staff arrivals and departures and contractual changes with the payroll provider
  • Review monthly payroll and liaise with the payroll provider as necessary
  • Manage staff leave
  • Manage declarations to social partners and the French authorities and help oversee social contributions
  • Help manage the organization's human resources platform and enter and verify data
  • Prepare and monitor interns gratification

Audits:


  • Assist with annual audits in New York and Paris and grantspecific audit

General Administration:


  • Manage the Paris office's expense reimbursement platform, including setup of users and training
  • Contribute to revisions to the Finance Manual and the Employee Handbook
  • Contribute to the procurement for and evaluation of administrative and financial providers
Any other task that may be requested in the context of the responsibilities above.


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of Anglo-Saxon accounting desired
  • Knowledge of the financial system Sage Intacct desired, but not required
  • Excellent level of English both oral and written (staff communications and work are largely done in English)
  • General knowledge of French labor law
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • This position requires a high level of attention to detail and organization, the capacity to multitask, and responsiveness.
