The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a world leader in biological research and develops a strong program in structural biology, including research, technology development and access to advanced services.
EMBL provides access to cutting-edge experimental facilities for structural biology in Grenoble (FR), Hamburg (DE) and Heidelberg (DE), supporting hundreds of users and producing TBs of data annually, while the PDBe team at EMBL-EBI in Hinxton (UK) is one of the founding members of the World-Wide Protein Data Bank.
As part of the EMBL data science transversal theme within the EMBL Programme, we seek to recruit a highly motivated software engineer to contribute to developing integrated data workflows and Data FAIRIfication in structural biology.
Your role- Contribute to further developing the ISPyB, CRIMS and other structural biology software in Grenoble and Hamburg and their communication with data deposition resources at the EMBL-EBI to provide a continuous data workflow along the macromolecular crystallography experimental workflow.
- To contribute to the design and implementation of a generalized data management framework in structural biology compliant with FAIR principles.
- Contribute to developing a panEMBL data platform supporting structural biology services.

Contract duration: 3 years
Grading: 5 or 6; depending on individual experience and qualifications, monthly salary starting from 3.3k EUR (after tax, before 12.05% EMBL deductions) + other paid benefits

You have
- Relational and nonrelational database technologies (e.g., SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, Neo4J)
- Backend development ( Python & Django, PHP & Laravel )
- Frontend development (Javascript frameworks/libraries, HTML 5)
- Working with collaborative computing technologies and concepts (e.g., GitHub/GitLab/SVN, JIRA and other issuetracking systems, CI/CD)
- Experience with or be eager to acquire indepth FAIR data management skills.
A double background in computational science and structural biology would be highly valued
