Company Description

As a company, CGG are driven by science and are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible to understand and solve some of the world's most complex natural resource challenges.

Job Description:

We are looking for talented student with fresh perspectives and a deep curiosity to solve challenges to join our team

This internship will develop your skills in advanced hydrothermal numerical simulation, whilst adapting a
reservoir modelling tool to support a new concept for underground heat extraction in ultra-high temperature context.

We will offer you an exciting and a dynamic work environment where you will work alongside our diverse group of experienced professionals based mainly in the UK and France.

In the framework of the development of an innovative concept, targeting the extraction of heat in an ultra-hot environment, hydrothermal numerical simulations are performed to optimize the exploitation design.

The numerical platform ComPASS is expected to be suitable for the required hydrothermal modelling.

The main goal of the internship is to validate the relevancy of this numerical tool through adapting the existing functions and developing new functions if necessary and delivering a first draft of numerical model capturing the main processes involved in the innovative concept.

The main steps of the internship are defined as following (remain flexible):

  • Learn and use ComPASS and familiarize with the physical processes involved in the innovative concept,
  • Identify and develop the adaptations required,
  • Implement the relevant functions to simulate the important processes,
  • Draft a numerical model of the studied system, based on the conceptual model defined by the permanent team, and deliver the associated notice.

Qualifications:

  • Student in master's degree in Engineering or Geoscience with strong Physics skills,
  • Strong interest in numerical simulation, and open to the environmental and earth sciences,
  • Mastery in python and Unix environment. Knowledge in Fortran will be valuable,
  • Familiar with internet hosting service for software development such as GitHub,
  • Problemsolver, independent, and advanced analytical skills,
  • Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Additional Information

  • Internship 4/6 months from May 2023 based in Massy ,
  • Please send your
