DXOMARK IMAGE LABS is a private French engineering company located near Paris. We specialize in the measurement of camera, audio, display and battery quality of all types of consumer electronics.

We have made the end-user experience of consumer electronics the focus of our scientific testing, which we do in 16 state-of-the-art multimedia laboratories at our headquarters.

Our international staff of 120 people includes scientists, engineers, and qualified technicians who are experts in their respective domains.

PROJECT ATTENTION MECHANISMS FOR PORTRAIT IMAGE QUALITY ASSESSMENT
Smartphone cameras quality is one of the main reasons for final users to buy a phone. Given the wide usage of current phones, main manufacturers are hugely investing to improve the final rendition. The most common usage of smartphones cameras are portraits.

Reproducing a high-quality portrait image is more complex than natural scenes, since a multitude of factors should be taken into consideration.

Image quality assessment (IQA) addresses the problem of automatically estimating the quality of an image, and thus the capacity of the cameras to reproduce high quality content.

These methods need to evaluate different perceptual characteristics of image rendition such as color reproduction, noise enhancement, texture representation, etc.

Due to their specific traits, assessing portrait scenes has special and practical requirements such as human-region priority (HRP), where global features should be treated in combination with local features.

DXOMARK proposes a stage to explore the usage of attention mechanisms in the context of our current project on Portrait Image quality assessment.

PROFILE

First or Second Year of Master in Computer Vision, Image Processing or Machine Learning (or any related field)
Pytorch (ideally) and/or OpenCV,
English and/or French Interest in photography and video

Paid intership, not open to work-study

Based in Boulogne-Billancourt

Start in September 2023

Minimum duration 5-6 months
