- Build and run oncology / immuno‑oncology assay platforms (in vitro)
- Develop and validate robust assay cascades for hit triage and hit‑to‑lead progression
- Lead bioactivity strategy, screening, and prioritisation frameworks
- Drive mechanism‑of‑action and target deconvolution work
- Interpret complex multi‑layer datasets and make go/no‑go decisions
- Work closely with chemistry teams to guide SAR and lead optimisation
- Build and lead a small multidisciplinary discovery team
- Help shape the scientific strategy and discovery culture from scratch
- Strong hands‑on experience setting up and running oncology or immuno‑oncology assays in a drug discovery environment
- Deep expertise in assay development, validation, and screening strategy
- Experience driving hit confirmation through to lead stage (or close)
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced start‑up environment with high autonomy
- Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills (chemistry, computational, platform, operations)
- Fluent English (French is a bonus)

We're supporting a fast-growing, science‑led biotech in Paris that is building a next‑generation discovery engine to unlock entirely novel chemical matter at industrial scale. They are now hiring a Head of Discovery Biology to build and lead the company's oncology / immuno‑oncology bioassay capability from the ground up.
This is a foundational role in the business. The platform is already generating highly differentiated compounds, but the priority now is bringing in someone who can set up and run state‑of‑the‑art oncology and immuno‑oncology assays from day one, driving hit confirmation, hit‑to‑lead decision making, and mechanism‑of‑action work.
Natural products experience is not essential. The key requirement is deep, hands‑on assay expertise in a drug discovery setting.
The Role
You will take ownership of discovery biology strategy across multiple programmes, define assay cascades, lead bioactivity and MOA work, and build the workflows and team needed to scale discovery output into real pipeline progression. This is not a "hands‑off" leadership position. The company is looking for someone who can combine senior‑level scientific direction with the ability to execute and build.

This role is Paris‑based with a strong on‑site expectation (hybrid, but meaningful in‑person presence is essential). Relocation support is unlikely, so candidates already based in France are strongly preferred.
