Are you ready to embark on a thrilling journey of export expansion? We have an exciting opportunity for an Export Manager to lead and focus our client's export growth activities.

This exclusive and retained role is a newly developed position that will be instrumental in driving their sales revenue to new heights, and we are looking for a dynamic and talented individual to join their team.


As the Export Manager, you will report directly to the Managing Director based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, for a growing award-winning SME.

This role offers a perfect blend of challenge and adventure, with an estimated 15% of your time dedicated to exciting overseas travel.


Your primary responsibility will be to spearhead export sales growth, which currently accounts for 60% of their revenue, originating from approximately 50 countries.


The key function of the Export Manager will be to expand the number of resellers and distributors within existing countries while exploring new market verticals and increasing market share in existing verticals.

You will be looking to Identify untapped geographical markets, assess their potential, determine the most profitable routes to market and elevate the management of current distributors to maximise growth through enhanced business support.

As the Export Manager, your expertise will be crucial in achieving our client's ambitious goals.


You will be responsible for:

Sales Growth and Market Penetration:


  • Achieving additional sales;
  • Preparing and maintaining distributor supply agreements and monitoring performance against set KPIs;
  • Developing tailored marketing collateral and programs for each key export market;
  • Ensuring competitive pricing while achieving target gross margin;
  • Staying ahead of competitor activity in key export markets.

Team Management and Support:


Market Analysis and Strategic Planning:


  • Researching potential export markets and building business cases to justify investment;
  • Providing accurate sales forecasts and contributing to the Sales & Operations Planning process;
  • Developing annual sales budgets for the export markets;
  • Analysing market intelligence to adapt strategies effectively;
  • Collaborating with the Managing Director to develop a comprehensive export strategy for the next three years.

Relationship Management and Support Services:


  • Representing the company at conferences and exhibitions to support its distributors;
  • Building a network of stakeholders, including trade bodies and government departments like the DIT;
  • Supporting and collaborating with the export administration team;
  • Maintaining and organising the CRM system for streamlined operations;
  • Crafting compelling business proposals and quotations for direct users in overseas markets;
  • Account management and preparation of quotations and other commercial documents.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • A background in manufacturing sales and distribution;
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in international sales, including distributor management;
  • A degree in business/marketing or a related field;
  • Reasonable technical acumen, with a preference for experience in instrumentation/measurement devices;
  • Preferred experience in field calibration equipment (nonlaboratory), mechanical/hydraulic products, or safetycritical industries like construction, work at height/fall arrest, and safety product/instrumentation.
In addition to an engaging and challenging role, our client offers a competitive package, including:


  • Salary:
£45,000 - £50,000 per annum;

  • Discretionary bonus, paid annually;
  • Generous pension scheme with a minimum 3% contribution (no maximum) and 6% company contribution;
  • 33 days of holidays, including bank holidays;
  • Convenient working hours: Monday to Thursday 08:30 to 16:30, Friday 08:30 to 14:30.
