As a Barclays Tax Specialist, you will have a focus on reporting and compliance, assisting the Head of tax France with the management and oversight of all direct and indirect tax matters.

The Global Tax Function is accountable for all taxation matters that impact Barclays as an organisation.

What will you be doing?

  • Assisting the Head of Tax with implementing changes to tax legislation, jurisprudence & disclosures of fiscal authorities that can impact Barclays' operations in France
  • Assisting the Head of Tax with managing the tax reporting obligations, preparation and submission of corporate income tax returns, VAT returns, local taxes on salaries
  • Preparing IFRS and French GAAP tax calculations and provisions for current & deferred taxes, instructing Financial Control France to book tax provisions & tax payments/refund
  • Acting as a trusted partner to the businesses we operate in France, including the provision of highquality advice on tax technical issues
  • Building relationships and working with the business and other functions for France including local Finance teams, Group TP Finance team
  • Reviewing and enhancing corporate tax, indirect taxes, and operational taxes compliance processes
  • Assisting with managing work orders and invoices via COUPA process
  • Reviewing and modifying transfer pricing local files with Group Tax, annual VAT audit trail report, and FEC (computerized accounting file) report with external tax consultants

What we're looking for:


  • French tax experience, preferably within a tax law advisory/tax accounting firm dealing with clients in financial services and/or an institution in the financial services sector
  • Articulate and able to communicate confidently and well, can establish and maintain good relationship with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good knowledge and experience with tax accounting data
  • Numerate, with an ability to use and interpret financial data

Skills that will help you in the role:

  • Excellent educational background, preferably from a technical or quantitative discipline
  • A good understanding of the complexities and nuances of Corporate and Investment Banking businesses
  • Experience of a dealing with a broad range of taxes (corporate income tax, VAT, operational taxes, transfer pricing, and the like)
  • Time management and capability to work independently on several priorities and to tight deadlines
