    Job Title: Infrastructure Manager

    Company Overview: Our company is dedicated to multidisciplinary technological research in the field of micro and nanotechnologies and their applications. With a focus on materials and systems, we leverage the Lyon-based technological platform NanoLyon. Our research spans key economic sectors including semiconductor industry, information technologies, life and health technologies, energy, and the environment. Operating across multiple sites in Ecully and Lyon-Tech La Doua campuses, we have a team of approximately 200 individuals, with 121 permanent staff members. We are a significant player in the Research and Teaching Pole.

    Job Description:

    • During the first semester, you will be trained in basic techniques for installing and repairing computer stations in a research laboratory.
    • Training provided by the Master Apprentice:
      • Understanding the specifics of a Joint Research Unit (JRU)
      • Installing a PC following a standardized procedure
      • Introduction to Active Directory technology to integrate a machine into an IT park
      • Introduction to SCCM technology for automatic deployment of an operating system and software
      • Electrical risk awareness
      • Diagnosing and repairing a faulty computer
      • Learning the history of IT technologies
    • Tasks assigned to the apprentice:
      • Installing Windows 10 computer stations ready for Windows 11 upgrade
      • Identifying critical machines not compatible with Windows 11 and planning their replacement
      • Updating all software to be deployed on Windows 11 on SCCM infrastructure
      • Inventorying Windows 11 compatible machines

      The second semester will focus on software deployment techniques, IT resource deployment, and basic cybersecurity rules.

      Training provided by the Master Apprentice:

      • Estimating the lifespan of machines within an IT park with an eco-responsible approach
      • Learning to deploy network shares within an IT park
      • Learning to deploy printers within an IT park
      • Learning to deploy GPOs in a Windows Active Directory environment
      • Upgrading an operating system to a higher version
      • Identifying security breaches in an operating system using appropriate network tools
      • Learning to write intervention reports, user guides, and procedures for knowledge transfer within the IT Service

      During the third semester, you will be trained in environmentally responsible IT equipment procurement rules and mass installation techniques for workstations.

      • Training provided by the Master Apprentice:
        • Learning to prepare IT quotes according to current markets
        • Proposing IT quotes to users for purchasing durable IT equipment
        • Learning to receive and inventory newly ordered equipment
        • Learning to securely mass install computer stations with a new version of Windows
        • Managing information on the state of the park (hardware, software, licenses)
      • Tasks assigned to the apprentice:
        • Preparing quotes according to laboratory rules and purchasing machines to be replaced for the Windows 11 transition
        • Installing and configuring new Windows 11 machines (Office or Experimental)

      In the fourth semester, you will be trained to interact with users and IT partners, advanced system installation techniques, and basic IT security rules.

      • Training provided by the Master Apprentice:
        • Understanding security issues and implementing encryption for computer stations
        • Learning to prepare an SCCM installation media for PCs with appropriate drivers
        • Establishing connections with IT Directors and other IT entities on campus
        • Assisting users in difficulty and proposing solutions
        • Learning to report technical issues from the field
      • Tasks assigned to the apprentice:
        • Migration of compatible machines from Windows 10 to Windows 11
        • Automating BitLocker encryption during machine installation
        • Improving support for automated installations of second-hand machines

      Profile Description: For students pursuing BTS or equivalent degrees. Strong interest in IT/network technologies and continuous improvement. Through acquiring technical knowledge and profound reflection, you will implement functional technical solutions and assess their implications. Rigorous mindset and general knowledge of Windows and Linux environments are required. Knowledge of Active Directory and SCCM technologies is a plus.

      Working Conditions: Workplace access is secured by a badge. A ministerial investigation lasting up to 2 months will be conducted on the selected candidate. Interventions may take place in experimental zones with restricted access and appropriate attire. A weekly meeting at the Lyon-Tech La Doua site will be scheduled to discuss progress and challenges. The apprentice will occasionally liaise with the ECL site technician for INL's multisite projects. The Master Apprentice will be available to assist the apprentice when needed, allowing autonomy for discovering the profession. Electrical risk training will also be provided as part of the activities.

      Languages: The apprentice will communicate orally with foreign users and must use multiple languages, including French and English.

      Additional Information: A communal room is available for coffee breaks, meals, or relaxation. The apprentice will participate in INL's new entrants day to explore the full range of laboratory activities and understand the general organization. They will also be invited to the laboratory's social events such as the Green Day or General Assemblies (Epiphany Cake, Summer Barbecue, ...).
