Your work environment
Within the Group, you will join the
Group Chief Underwriting Office as
Pricing Expert - Nat Cat.


Context & Major Challenges
The newly created Global Chief Underwriting Office will be accountable for establishing, enabling, and driving profit and growth through Product Underwriting Strategy, Portfolio Design and Technical Underwriting Excellence in partnership with the AXA Entities, for both Commercial and Retail, through:

  • Portfolio Design Steering
  • Underwriting Product Strategy and Profitability Measurement
  • Technical Underwriting Guidance
  • Pricing Models, Platforms and Analytics
  • Risk Appetite deployment
  • Ceded Reinsurance strategy design and purchasing


As part of the CUO Office you will be an integral part of the Group Pricing Team partnering directly with underwriting and executive management as we look to develop and deliver our strategic objectives.


Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that our cat business has market leading, technical pricing and portfolio management capabilities.
  • Work closely across the entities and establish and leverage a strong network of relationships with internal and external stakeholders e.g. consultants, clients and vendors to develop and implement consistent cat pricing capabilities and strategy.
  • Advocate for a superior cat technical pricing improvement and change and continuously evaluate and evolve cat pricing approach and partner with entities to incorporate alternative views of risk.
  • Carry out Pricing Technical Reviews (Deep Dive, IDR, etc.) on our Nat Cat business and execute a thorough review on Pricing Strategy, Adequacy, Governance, Tools, etc.
  • Review and Validate Net Cat Pricing Strategy, Adequacy and Model Calibrations.
  • Enforce the execution of the Pricing Policy including best practices and technical standards for governance.
  • Address Regulatory Pricing Topics and develop actions plans to respond to legal and regulatory changes and ensure fairness.
  • Stay abreast of and appropriately communicate knowledge of industry changes, specifically changes that affect Nat Cat pricing.
  • Focus on Nat Cat data quality and enrichment to improve analytics and decision making and enhance client risk insights to improve pricing, risk selection and mitigation.

  • Global scope: full remit (across all businesses & geographies exposed to Nat Cat).
  • Responsible for the pricing Remit for the GCUO retaining matrix responsibility across Nat Cat exposures.
