thesis, you'll be in charge of characterising and modelling in 3D the heterogeneities of Beauce Limestones where stands the Observatory of the Vadose Zones (O-ZNS).
If you were looking for a topic gathering geology, lab, and numerical approaches, you've just found itThis project will be carried out through three stages (see detailed project):
- Characterisation of
Beauce Limestones:
sedimentology, alteration, karst, mineralisation
- Petrophysical analysis oriented towards control on transfer properties
- Spatialisation and 3D modelling of geological structures and heterogeneities integrating an artificial intelligence scheme developped in this project

sedimentology & numerical geology:
❖ a strong background in geology, especially for the description and quantitative analysis of limestones. A first experience on continental carbonates, regolith, and/or karst will be appreciated, as well as notions of hydrogeology.
❖ some basis of numerical tools for geological modelling (GIS, 3D modelling of structures and/or facies). In any case, a strong taste for numerical approaches, particularly AI, will be a key to success for this Ph.
D. work and therefor, for the recruitment.
❖ finally, as for all Ph.
D.
thesis, enthusiasm and skills for team work, synthesis, and oral and written communication (at least in English but some French skills will be appreciated even though not compulsory).
