About the Role

Location:
Lyon or Paris, France

You will be responsible for engaging with industry bodies and advisors to deeply understand the French power market and it's future evolution, both from a market fundamental and regulatory perspective.

You will be responsible for managing the development of the SSE view of long-term wholesale power and asset capture prices and asset revenues for French electricity market in which SSE is now active, or is considering as part of its Renewables Business Uanit growth.

There will also be a secondary requirement to support the development of the inhouse view of the Italian power market.

These prices and market outlooks will be used to guide commercial evaluation of existing renewable generation assets, potential investments and divestments, and support assessment of Renewables Business Unit strategy.


Key Responsibilities include:


  • Managing the process for creating and updating European market insight reports. These reports include an overview of market fundamentals of supply and demand, market design, policy support mechanisms and any market specific factors that are relevant for the BU when assessing an opportunity or market attractiveness.
  • Manage the support EE gives on project development, M&A and subsidy auctions in new markets. This will involve the provision of reports and presentations (up to MD and Group Exec level).
  • Managing external industry relationships and proactively engaging with relevant industry and regulatory bodies to understand and influence the evolution of the market.
  • Develops and Manages relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure EE remains at the heart of SSER activities and we have early engagement on projects to ensure we can deliver the highest level of service possible.
  • Ensuring longterm power market scenarios for new markets align with SSE's scenarios for GB/ISEM.
  • Aiding the mentoring and development of junior team members, including the direction of graduate placements within the European research team.

What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience in wholesale energy market analysis with extensive economic and commercial modelling experience and understanding.
  • Detailed Knowledge of Electricity Market Economics and Policy Mechanisms.
  • Skill in external stakeholder management with an ability to represent SSE in the industry.
