THE ROLE:

Meridiam manages a portfolio of large infrastructure-related corporates in France and globally.


In particular, Meridiam is a major shareholder of Suez SA, a company active in delivering essential services that protect and improve the quality of life.

Suez provides access to water and waste services, with resilient and innovative solutions.

With its 44,000 employees present in 40 countries, Suez produced in 2021 drinking water for 66 million people worldwide and sanitation services for more than 33 million people.

It generated 3.6 TWh of energy from waste and wastewater per year and avoided the emission of 3.8 million tons of CO2.

In 2021, Suez generated revenues of 7.5 billion euros.


Meridiam is seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to support the team on monitoring of its participation in Suez, with the objective of monitor and maximize the economic and environmental value of its stakes.

The role will be based in Meridiam headquarters in Paris (France).


In addition, the Associate / Senior Associate will also have the possibility to work on the development of infrastructure projects in Europe across three main topics: Clean Energy, Social Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Maintain and develop a good daytoday relationship with the Suez team counterparts (Finance, Performance, Investment, Strategy, Communication, ESG, Legal, HR, IT ), the other Shareholders of Suez (GIP, CDC, CNP Assurances), and Meridiam teams (Investors Relation, Valuation, Controlling, Investment, ESG,)
  • Maintain appropriate financial controls and policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the construction and the delivery of Suez's Strategic Plan and Medium-Term Plan (MTP)
  • Monitor Suez's monthly performance reporting, identify and analyze discrepancies between actual and projected figures and suggest methods of improving as appropriate through proactive mindset
  • Report the appropriate level of information to Meridiam top management
  • Work with the Suez teams to deliver key strategic initiatives (such as acquisition / bond financing, refinancing, development projects, addon acquisitions, financial rating, various employees incentive plan )
  • Contribute to the review and recommendation on the investment opportunities before presentation by Suez top management to the Strategic Committee and the Board
  • Maintain and run Suez operational and financial model
  • Support the valuation team to prepare the quarterly valuation
  • Support Investors Relation teams in reporting to the LPs on specific requests and regarding Suez for the quarterly reporting
  • Support the team as required during fundraising processes (due diligences, Q&A,)
  • Contribute to ensure compliance and proper obligations of Meridiam regarding the Suez governance documentation (SPA, SHA,.)
  • Contribute to prepare and develop Meridiam representatives' participation to the Board and Board committees (Strategic, Audit & Risk, CSR,)
  • Contribute to build a Meridiam informed vision by being proactive engaging with external counterparts (advisors, banks, lawyers) and in identifying Water and Waste sectorial evolution (technology, investments, competition,)
  • Build a transversal relationship
