    Description

    OpenClassrooms is looking for an IP/IT & GDPR Legal Counsel, specialized in personal data protection and contract law. You will join a team of three people and report to the General Counsel.
    Within this team, you will contribute to the management of commercial legal affairs and compliance for the company (French), its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United States, and other locations within the group.

    YOUR MISSIONS GDPR

    • Audit information systems to determine the level of compliance and formalize OpenClassrooms' requirements;
    • Provide assistance for tender responses from a data protection perspective;
    • Manage access rights requests in coordination with the Security teams and the DPO;
    • Propose the implementation or improvement and maintain established processes, frameworks, and tools ensuring compliance with current regulations on personal data protection;
    • Monitor changes in regulations at both the European and national levels (draft laws, jurisprudence, Article 29 Working Party opinions, CNIL recommendations, etc.);
    • Handle incidents and disputes in coordination with the DPO and internal teams;
    • Act as a liaison with relevant authorities (CNIL, etc.) if necessary

    Contract

    • Support and collaborate with sales, procurement, and IT teams in drafting and negotiating contracts with clients and suppliers;
    • Work in partnership with internal OpenClassrooms clients and external advisors to help ensure the company's compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks;
    • Analyze and advise stakeholders on contract law, intellectual property, education law, and other matters related to the company's activities;
    • Assist in the creation and updating of OpenClassrooms' contract templates;
    • Contribute to the development and updating of policies, procedures, and other communication materials for the legal department
    • This position offers the opportunity to evolve into a Data Protection Officer (DPO) role within 12 months.*

    Preferred Experience

    Proven experience in personal data law, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
    Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts on both national and international levels.
    Possessing excellent analytical and synthesis skills, you are recognized for your writing abilities.
    Autonomous, organized, and meticulous, you excel in carrying out your responsibilities and thrive in a team environment.
    Your sense of confidentiality, work capacity, and adaptability to the fast-paced culture of a technological company are highly valued.
    Demonstrated ability to listen and educate your counterparts, explaining complex issues in clear language.
    Ideally, linguistic skills at a C1 level, both written and spoken, in English and French, including the ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
    Proactive and service-oriented attitude, accustomed to working in an international environment.
    Practical experience in managing international cases (preferably in the United States and England), or experience abroad, would be appreciated.
    Comfortable with technology (previous experience with our tools is a bonus: Slack, Dropbox, Google Docs, Concord).
    Bonus: Previous experience in e-learning or the edtech industry.

    Recruitment Process

    HR interview with an HR team member (30 minutes).
    Interview with the position's manager (45 minutes).
    Subsequently, you will complete a case study to validate your practical skills.
    Interview with 2 team members (60 minutes).
