DAILY WORK:

  • Hedge accounting expertise requests to work closely with ALMT team, developing a strong professional relationship and a good understanding of their activity. This process is key in the management of the Interest Risk over the Banking Book, leading to have a comprehensive view of the funding and hedging strategies developed by Group ALMT. The team covers the ALMT activities of BNPP SA including Securities Services, but also the ALMT activities of other Group subsidiaries such as Personal Financeand EMEA branches and any other entity entering progressively in the Regional Finance organization.
Within the SMS CMP/ALMT expert team, the Hedge accounting Expert covers the following assignments:


  • Understand the activity of the ALM, its organisation and master its book/portfolio structure
  • Secure the accounting representation of the hedging strategies, performing analytical reviews and financial controls such as : >Reconciliation of the accounting representation with the economical view followed by the Front and Middle Offices of the hedging instruments (derivatives representation Off Balance Sheet) >Control of the consistency between hedging instrument and underlying covered exposures according to the prospective tests produced by the ALMT department >Perform retrospective effectiveness test of the hedging strategies >Analysis and justification of hedging breaks >Review the reversal of the internal deals
  • Prepare the necessary documentation of the hedge accounting to be shared with the business and external auditors
  • Support the P&L Reconciliation Team in performing indepth quantitative and qualitative analysis of the breaks identified between accounting and economic P&L figures
  • Ensure the reliability of financial information relating to the hedge accounting in the BNP Paribas Group Financial statements and the Local Regulatory Reportings-Provide assistance in answering to questions from the external auditors, Operations (Middle Offices and Back offices), Front Offices, IT and other departmentsMake and lead suggestions to enhance operational processes, control framework and team's efficiency

PROFILE:
Training and occupational experience

  • Business school, Engineer, University Graduate, Master Degree in Accounting or Finance Degree
  • Experience in a Finance Department within the Banking sector (Financial Control, Financial Accounting, Reporting, Business/financial analysis), including audit and consulting firms
  • Working experience in an international environment appreciatedTechnical Skills
  • Financial and Management Accounting
  • Good Knowledge of Capital Market product and activities & Financial instruments
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, both in IFRS (IFRS9) and French GAAP (an asset) Soft Skills
  • Analytical, organisational, and problemsolving skills expected
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Curious mindset and attention to detailsskills
  • Selfstarter and team player, able to work independently and collaboratively with various teams in a deadlinefocused environment

Within Group BNP Paribas Finance Function, Europe, Middle East &Africa (EMEA) Finance is the department that measures, controls and explains the financial reporting of the Region's entities, covering a large part of BNP Paribas Business Lines.

EMEA Finance is a cross-border organization with teams operating in Paris, Madrid and Lisbon on behalf of the different countries of the Region.

In the EMEA Finance organization, the Subject Matter Streams - Capital Market Products (SMS-CMP) department ensure an accurate, reliable and comprehensive set of segmented financial data required for the production of all Reporting streams in relation with Capital Markets Business Lines.
