Description

General information:

Organisation :
The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a key player in research, development and innovation in four main areas:

  • defence and security,
- nuclear energy (fission and fusion),
- technological research for industry,
- fundamental research in the physical sciences and life sciences.

Drawing on its widely acknowledged expertise, and thanks to its 16000 technicians, engineers, researchers and staff, the CEA actively participates in collaborative projects with a large number of academic and industrial partners.

The CEA is established in ten centers spread throughout France

Job description:

Why join us?

Your main tasks will be to:

  • Define and carry out fuel cell degradation tests on automatic test benches allowing precise variation of operating parameters
  • Analyze the results of electrochemical characterizations (polarization curve, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy)
  • Set up structural and physicalchemical characterizations of the components before and after, or even during, the durability tests (scanning and transmission electron microscopy, small angle radiation scattering,).
  • Establish the link between performance evolution and component degradations
  • Present the progress of the work at project meetings
  • Participate in the drafting of project reports
  • Publish your work after having possibly patented it
  • Present the results in international conferences
Your work will be part of the European PEMTASTIC project.

In this context, you will collaborate with industrial partners in charge of materials development (Imerys, Chemours, Heraeus, IRD Fuel Cells), or stack development (Symbio) as well as institutional partners (DLR, ZHAW).

On a day-to-day basis, Arnaud Morin, Joël Pauchet and Laure Guétaz, all three of whom have recognised expertise in the field of PEMFC development and/or characterisation, will supervise you for a period of 2 years.

Applicant Profile:

You have a PhD in the fields of electrochemistry and/or materials characterisation.

You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of electrochemical characterisation methods, in particular for PEMFCs, as well as electron microscopy techniques (ideally small angle scattering)

The position requires a good physical sense, an ability to use mathematical equations and models.

The PEMFC is a multidisciplinary system and its study requires curiosity and open-mindedness.

You are recognised for your ability to synthesise and listen, your organisational skills and your interpersonal skills, enabling you to work independently to manage the entire study, with rigour to respect the protocols, analyse and correlate all the data and communicate the results

You are able to integrate into your missions the concern to work in a process of respect and continuous improvement of safety, quality and impact on the environment.

Still doubtful? What we offer:

  • A unique research environment dedicated to topics with high societal impact,
  • Growing activities in a positive economic context,
  • A good worklife balance,
  • A position in the heart of the city of Grenoble easily accessible by means of soft mobility encouraged by CEA,
  • A very active Corporate Social Committee for leisure and extraprofessional activities,
  • Remote working possibility.
