Missions Environment


Reporting to the Group Operations & Technical Officer, member of the Strategy & Transformation leadership team, the Group Safety Director leads a small team of experts that support countries and businesses in achieving their safety critical missions.

The Group Safety Director's role is to coordinate and drive the safety culture, improve safety performance, and roll out international expertise across communities around the world.

The ultimate objective is to help Transdev become an international safety leader within the public transport industry, by establishing a safety culture that will lead to Zero Harm to people, the environment and human rights.

With overarching goal being the reduction of the number of safety incidents and accidents. Eventually, our safety record must contribute to becoming the preferred partner for today's and future Clients. Together with other safety teams, the Group's Safety Director leverages the full strength of the Group.


Key responsabilities
The Group Safety Director has the following key responsibilities.

Lead a small team of safety experts and help them excel in achieving the Group's and their own objectives:

  • Develop and implement a clear vision that will strengthen the Group's safety strategy and culture across countries.
  • Stay at the forefront of expertise within the industry. Making sure that Transdev has access to all knowledge, tools and processes that will drive continuous improvement in Safety Performance.
  • Manage the international community of safety professionals, create a sense of belonging, track and implement best practices, and support local initiatives.
  • Own Transdev's Health and Safety policy, keep Transdev's safety management system (SMS) up to date and relevant, set minimum standards, and benchmark performance.
  • Provide bid support for critical bids, write bid text and case studies and/or review bid plans.
  • Work with other teams within the Operations Department within Strategy & Transformation. Contribute to developing a positive and constructive culture that values synergy and cooperation.

Other specific responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for quarterly and annual reportings at Group level, including NFDP, by harnessing and consolidating country data. Track historic trends and propose corrective actions. Contribute to CSRD transition on safety reporting.
  • Advise Executive Committee on the Group's safety performance. Develop initiatives and make sure that countries have improvement plans in place that will establish Transdev as an Industry Safety Leader.
  • Organize the Major Accident Committee and ensure the of dissemination of lesson's learned and the implementation of followup activities.
  • Organize regular level 2 safety audits across businesses and around the world to make sure safety teams live up to their safety responsibilities and comply with local laws and regulations.
  • Support change by understanding and communicating the safety implications, and by assisting local teams with embedding processes and procedures.
  • Lead the organization of the annual safety seminar for Transdev's safety professionals and the Group's annual safety award.
  • Work together with the Group's Security team.

Education and Background
Master's degree in engineering, law, or business administration.
Solid management experience as a senior leader for the safety function of a larger business
10-15 years of experience in a safety environment, preferably within industry or public transportation.
Demonstrable success in leading multi-cultural teams with firm stakeholder management responsibilities.
Successful experience in establishing and strengthening a safety culture.


Skills
Strategic thinking with strong analytical skills
Ability to manage safety without thinking in limitations, but by looking for options. Supporting teams in achieving their objectives in a safe environment.
Strong safety credentials, ideally acquired in a people-intensive organization. Being a good 'storyteller'.
Experience in auditing and have knowledge of integrated management systems.
Ability to listen and influence at all levels, from ExCom to local management. Being able the achieve success without being the decision maker.
Business minded with the ability to drive continuous improvement of Transdev's safety performance.
Engaging leader with strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively. Good with people.
Capacity to work in multi-cultural environment ideally based on previous international experiences.
Experience in heavy modes, such as metro and rail operations, is considered


A savoir
Position based in our headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
This position involves frequent travel and engagement with all 19 countries.
