- maximize the full value of such Power assets on spot markets, TotalEnergies Gas & Power aims to be present at each step of the value chain: from trading on the curve up to Day Ahead optimization, Intraday and ancillary services.

This optimization of Short Power positions is based on a European framework with aggregation of generation (CCGT, Wind, Solar), flexibilities (DSR, Batteries), and power supply portfolio to maximize value creation for TotalEnergies company.
The job holder is required to manage and develop a team that is based in Paris, while interacting with multiple teams spread across several European locations for strategy execution.
The team will act in an uncertain energy commodity trading context with extreme market volatility due to a variety of factors including worldwide economics, energy resource development, political and legislative changes, climate change, and energy demand. Competitive environment for new business and growth opportunities.

The Manager we are looking for is responsible for leading and developing the Shortterm Optimization of TotalEnergies Gas and Power (Gas & Power trading arm of TotalEnergies group) in all European countries where TotalEnergies is present on the Power value chain on shortterm power markets (including France, Belgium, Spain).
Team management
Effectively recruit, train, and develop employees
Foster team spirit
Maintain high level of expertise within the team to be recognized as optimization and market experts for other teams within the Company (Legal, Risk Control, Origination ).
Ensure good relationship and support with local control centers and operations teams (Day-Ahead and Intraday trading) when deploying strategies and models.

Power Optimization

Define optimal strategies and markets arbitrage strategies
On dayahead, intraday and balancing markets for power assets in Europe (CCGT, wind/solar plants, battery, Demand Side Response) and power supply portfolios
On Ancillary services markets for the assets, including optimization between those markets and the energy shortterm markets
In cooperation with weather and modeling team in Geneva, develop weather expertise and models to feed shortterm optimization strategies
Work closely with the Power Shortterm Trading local teams and Day-Ahead team to define crosscountries strategies while considering local specifies and to support local teams for proper implementation
Be responsible of the optimization models, which will be run and maintained by his team.
Continuously back test strategies to verify adequacy and optimality, and dynamically adjust when necessary
Define and monitor KPI/P&L resulting of activities on shortterm markets (report definition based on strategy and reporting analysis over multiple day to feedin back testing)
Perform impact analysis regarding design market and regulatory evolutions to identify market opportunities

What is the ideal profile?

Undergraduate degree in economics, finance, engineering, business administration or equivalent experience
5+ years of power markets and shortterm optimization experiences required
Management skills
Indepth understanding of the energy industry, power market structure, and risk management
Passion for the markets which has resulted in successful trading track record
Ability to work in a team environment; ability to communicate effectively across teams
Wellorganized and capacity to work under pressure
Strong desire to be part of a fastpaced, entrepreneurial environment.
