Role


The Analyst will support CDPQ's ongoing efforts toward its business objectives by advising on transaction execution based on the required risk and return and by helping with post-investment management of CDPQ's assets in Europe.

The Analyst will also assist the Directors in various research and strategic initiatives.


Main responsibilities- Participate actively in the analysis of investment proposals.- Develop and review detailed financial models and highlight the key points of the investment thesis, including performing sensitivity analyses and reviewing financial projections and valuation assumptions.- Provide advice on evaluations of potential investments using the appropriate methodology (discounted cash flows, multiples, etc.).- Support coordination of in-depth due diligence processes for investment opportunities.- Lead the drafting of authorization documents for new investment opportunities.- Assist the main colleagues in negotiations of trade agreements and shareholding structures.- Help develop business and strategic plans.- Proactively monitor financial and operational indicators, as well as financial reports of portfolio companies.- Contribute to the portfolio's value added by publishing recommendations on key industry trends in and strategic issues for portfolio companies.- Prepare internal and external reports on portfolio companies.- Conduct in-depth research on trends and fundamentals of the covered sector: proactively follow market news and collect information from relevant sources.- Produce a detailed analysis of the infrastructure sector's key challenges and recommend strategies for implementation.- Produce sectoral studies on potential target markets to be developed.- Develop effective tools for research and market surveillance.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics or accounting
  • Master's degree in finance; an MBA, CFA or CPA would be considered an asset
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in investment, finance or investment banking Experience in the infrastructure sector or in project finance would be considered an asset
  • Solid experience in financial analysis and modelling
  • Indepth knowledge of and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in English and French, both spoken and written
