We are looking for a Product Developer for our R&D Center based in Kunheim (France) or Gothenburg (Sweden). This is a permanent position, reporting into the Global Product Development Organization. To apply, please send a CV in English.

What You Will Do
Product Developer is, within assigned projects/activities, responsible for developing new and existing products to meet consumer and business needs (e.g. product superiority, manufacturability, cost efficiency and competitiveness).

  • Develop new products as product expert in innovation projects and other product related activities, such as value engineering or quality improvements. The participation in project/activities can be of different levels as consultant, project team member or project leader
  • Partner with Innovation Teams and local marketing teams to understand consumer and business needs
  • Translate consumer needs to product functions and further to product design parameters/technical solutions
  • Establish product specifications, evaluate and validate new product solutions in all relevant aspects, such as consumer acceptance, product functionality, product cost, sustainability, manufacturability, patent situation and product safety.
  • Build and maintain a broad and deep competence and knowledge in relevant technical area(s) in terms of Essity and competitor products, patents, technologies and materials as well as market and industry trends.
  • Actively provide the team and the organization with knowledge, news and results pertaining to the competence area. Be the expert in product design/construction for Essity specifications and assortment across geographies.
  • Participate in assigned patent and competitor watch teams.
  • Drive or Participate in R&D upstream projects/tasks to deliver on the R&D platforms and improve state of readiness for future Innovation projects.

Who You Are

  • Master degree / PhD in Papermaking, Process engineering, Chemistry, Mechanics or Product Design
  • At least 3 years of experience in production, product / technology development in a R&D environment
  • Experience in working with cellulose fibers or cellulose based products appreciated
  • Experience with statistics, modelling appreciated


  • English: fluent

  • French: appreciated
  • Adaptability to work within diverse and remote team
  • Ability to travel in Europe, North America and Latin America on need base, up to 40% of time
  • International experience appreciated
  • Can do attitude and willingness to learn
