Context

The mission of Secure Land Communications (SLC) Transformation Office is to lead the digital transformation plan of the Programme Unit, which gathers 1 150 employees over 17 countries.

This digital transformation plan currently has five main objectives: support business transformation, modernize customer experience, improve operational efficiency, leverage the value of data and drive culture transformation.

While contributing to all those objectives, the Senior Data & information architect is a key role of the forth one, which has been organized around the following pillars:


  • Create a strong sense of responsibility toward data accessibility and data quality

Facilitate both the access to critical information and the search for new information

We are looking for a Senior Data & information architect to not only develop the existing activities, but also to contribute actively to the ongoing update of SLC digital transformation plan, in order to define its next phases. The Senior Data & information architect reports to the Head of Transformation Office.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

Strategy

In close collaboration with the Data team, you will be in charge of:

-Establishing the scope of data and analytics architecture activities, including external (industry) collaboration areas

-Identifying the data that the organization consumes and produces and consolidate a business view of data across the organization

-Develop single source data strategy along with ecosystem wide guidelines and standards for cataloging and maintaining data repositories

-Ensure regulatory issues are considered surrounding data assets (such as data privacy laws, data retention policies, outsourced data and specific defense industry regulations)

-Create the strategic requirements, principles, models and designs that strengthen the network effect of sharing such data across the ecosystem

Architecture

-Co-define and communicate enterprise data management standards relating to the location, media type and security requirements to facilitate efficient and secure management of all data elements

-Recognize and resolve conflicts between models, ensuring that data models are consistent with the ecosystem model (e.g., entities and definitions)

-Design search and navigation systems that connect users with the content and services they need, such as a data catalog

-Review and approve data model designs with a focus on those areas influencing interoperability, analytics

-Ensures integration of the project logical data model into the ecosystem conceptual data model and that physical models align with the logical data model

The Data & Information Architect M/F has to have technical skills:

Technical skills required
-
Master's degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics or other relevant fields
-
An experience of more than 5 years in Data Architecture
-
An experience of more than 5 years in IT domains
-
Deep understanding of the data / analytics and data architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices
-
Experience in data design, management and maintenance
-
Experience in creating and maintaining taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and metadata schemas
-
Project management experience
-
Proven architecture modeling skills, and strategic planning capabilities
-
Analytics and reporting experience a plus
-
Flexibility and ability to work in multi-national teams

Ability to interface with stakeholders within the entity and at divisional level

Team player

Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy

Advanced level of English (written and spoken) and French as a plus
