About the department

The Real Estate department is a core part of abrdn's Real Assets Business and sits within our Investments Vector.

abrdn exists to enable our clients to be better investors and in line with this, the Real Estate department serves to secure high-performance returns and successful client outcomes through investing in a wide variety of global asset classes.

The Real Assets team consists of c.340 people across 15 Global locations, managing 1200+ properties globally.

About the role


The Junior Asset Manager will be responsible for supporting the asset management ("AM") team with the active management of the real estate portfolio in France.

The role requires learning about a mixed investment portfolio and supporting the team to deliver on goals and asset management initiatives, with a focus on, but not limited to, residential properties.

It will require collaboration with a variety of teams within abrdn (fund managers, transactions managers, development managers, RE operations, ESG team etc.) and externally (property managers, lawyers, accountants etc.).


Ultimately the Junior Asset Manager position is to being part of a team that manage the abrdn real estate portfolio in France.

The team's aim is to optimise returns within the risk parameters and strategy of the funds, whilst make our buildings and services better in both terms of ESG and user friendliness for our tenants.

The Junior Asset Manager will assist the team in achieving asset level performance goals and deliver high quality services.


Key Outcomes and Responsibilities- Work with the Asset Management team and wider abrdn teams (i.e fund management, development management, transactions, ESG, RE Operations) to deliver asset management objectives.- Oversee and co-ordinate the activities of the property managers and external service providers to support daily management, letting and overall performance of the assets.- Ensure data quality of property managers in close cooperation with Property Data team.- Assist in the preparation of business plans in coordination with fund managers, the European Asset Management Hub and others.- Support on letting and capex projects.- Support the AM to manage the portfolio to the highest standards of professionalism and best market practice.- Support implementation of the business plan.- Support good tenant relation and active management of leasing out available space.- Ensure legal documentation, statutory records, management records, property data and other relevant data are up to date.- Administrative tasks, as well as internal and external communication.


Skills and Experience- Capability for successfully completing active asset management projects, including letting and capex projects- Focus and attention to detail and accuracy- Analytical thinking & organisational skills- Team working, open mind and flexibility- Ability to develop a solid market reputation and key contacts with occupiers, developers and owners- Affinity to technology, data and innovation- Fluent in French and English.
