The Directorate of Human Rights, within the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law, counts about 200 staff
members and covers the following areas of activities: the execution of judgements of the European Court of Human Rights, the
effective implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights at national and European level, the independence and
efficiency of justice, Justice and Legal Cooperation Standards, and the monitoring of standards related to deprivation of liberty.
Your role
Responsibility and Reporting
Advise and assist the Director General in defining the major objectives of the Directorate General of Human Rights
and Rule of Law;
Actively support the Secretary General and the Director General in ensuring the follow-up to decisions by the
Committee of Ministers, in line with priorities;
Report on a regular basis to the Director General and the Committee of Ministers on the results achieved and on further
requirements, risks and opportunities stemming from developments or events.
Programme and Resource Management
Ensure effective and efficient processes, procedures and a results-oriented organisation;
Promote co-operation, synergy and transversal connections with other directorates and departments of the Directorate
General and with other entities;
Provide general guidelines and priorities to Heads of Departments and other direct reports;

within the Directorate;

Higher education degree or qualification equivalent to a Master's degree in a relevant field (law, politics, international
relations, etc. or in a related field). Exceptionally, the degree or qualification requirement may be waived if the

Extensive professional experience, at senior level, in matters relating to the standard setting, monitoring and/or
technical cooperation in the field of human rights protection;
