JOB SCOPE:

This position is within R&D - Technologies and Sustainability department, in the Advanced Materials & Technologies team.

The team aims at developing new technologies for ophthalmic lenses manufacturing, including Additive Manufacturing ("AM", this position being focused on inkjet-type AM technology).


These developments cover two main axes:
processes and associated materials.

Within this scope, the R&D Scientist leads technical studies to develop identified processes, to bring them to sufficient maturity and robustness levels enabling to evaluate their potential for industrialization.

He / She must consider constraints related to the additive technologies and those related to technical requirements of ophthalmic lenses, while considering parallel developments of appropriate materials.

His / Her work brings knowledge and know-how to the team, through the understanding of physical and mechanical phenomena involved.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Study management
- integrate the objectives of the study and identify the technical strategy to put in place
- contribute to setting up and executing test plans
- identify and define necessary process and equipment evolutions
- analyze, synthetize, and communicate results to the team and the managers (oral & written reporting, in French and English)

Development of expertise
- develop thorough knowledge of preexisting internal work and equipment
- carry out a technology watch (litterature search via scientific papers and newsletters, participation to conferences, trade fairs )

Protection of innovations - carry out a patent watch, write up documents for patent filing

Suppliers' management

  • Ensure regular communication with active suppliers,
  • Identify new relevant partners

EHS - ensure work is done in line with EHS regulations


CANDIDATE'S PROFILE:

-
Master / Engineering degree (or PhD), possibly specialized in
Process Development or Materials Science:

  • At least 2 years of
    experience in Additive Manufacturing types of technologies, ideally
    in inkjet-type technology
  • Basic knowledge on
    Materials Chemistry:

  • R&D experience in processes development:
  • Good command of MS Office
  • Very good
    English:
  • Communicative
    French:
  • Strong
