Mission Details:

Arkema is recruiting for its Colombes Head Office an Environmental Advocacy Adviser.


Reporting directly to the Director, Health, Safety and Environmental Affairs, you advocate a reasonable regulatory approach with regulators and stakeholders.

As an Expert, you provide European regulatory support for Arkema.

In particular, you focus on the EU's chemical strategy for sustainability, the specified REACH restrictions and environmental affairs of the EU and non-US countries for fluorinated derivatives and their interaction with regional regulations and global international agreements (Montreal Protocol, Convention on Climate Change).

The objective of the position is external to ARKEMA with considerable high-level contacts with governments, industry groups, competitors, customers, for example, government ministers, senior officials, environmental managers from other companies.

Personal relationships are essential to support the high-level influencing skills required in this role.
Much of the work is carried out at United Nations, European Union and associations meetings.
Meetings take place on a global scale, requiring extensive travel, an understanding of international government and business practices.


ACTIVITIES:

  • Provide global environmental and regulatory affairs expertise for ARKEMA.
  • Develop and implement a Business policy on relevant regulatory and environmental issues.
  • Act as a consultant within the group on EU advocacy and work with external bodies on relevant issues
  • Establish and manage relationships with the UN and governments around the world (outside the Americas)
  • Implement strategy through EU and international business associations
  • Serve as a focal point for ARKEMA's representation to national governments and relevant governments.
  • Provide advice and awareness to all relevant businesses and functions in Arkema on European regulations

Required Profile:


The position requires a high degree of expertise achieved by the highest level of professionalism and diplomacy, excellent knowledge of relevant businesses, coupled with over 10 years of direct experience in the field, and excellent oral and written presentation skills.

You know how to work independently and endurance and dynamism are part of your assets.

You will, by definition, be an internationally recognized external expert in the relevant regulatory fields and will be recognized as the spokesperson, if any, of the associations of which ARKEMA is a member.
