Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Experimental Systems Biology / Sytems Toxicology (M/F/d)


For this project, you will join an interdisciplinary team composed of toxicologists, molecular biologists, automation experts and data scientists within the Toxicology department of Bayer CropScience in close collaboration with members of other international Bayer entities and academic institutions.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement Systems Biology pipelines with a focus on Toxicology to interpret multi omics data sets such as transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and phenomics in order to drive mechanistic-based screening and de-risking approaches to support development of next generation safe plant protection products:

  • Generate and analyze medium to large scale data (mulit-omics) for biological discoveries related to toxicology
  • Review appropriate literature pertaining to current or proposed projects
  • Independently plan, analyze, interpret your data analysis, setup critical path and pathforward
  • Communicate and report study findings, results, analyses, and future direction to project partners (to direct manager & collaborators)
  • Actively collaborate with experienced Research Toxicologists to set up experiments and drive data analysis and interpretation
  • Participate in project meetings and active scientific exchange with internal and external scientific communities
  • Enable and support researchers across teams to use Systems Biology / Toxicology for the development of hypothesis driven derisking approaches
  • Leverage Systems Biology / Toxicology to define and shape new and innovative approaches for Next Generation Risk Assessment of plant protection products

WHO YOU ARE

Education:


  • PhD in bioinformatics, cellular biology, biology, toxicology, or related disciplines
  • 2 years of experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings.

Skills:


  • 2 years of experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings
  • Handson experience in generating and analyzing multiomics data in the wetlab
  • Experience in working with multiomics data in biological contexts
  • Strong expertise in scripting R, Python languages applied to omics data is required
  • Experience in high content screening technology (384 wells), and high throughput quantitative data analysis would be a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with multidisciplinary teams
  • Accurate and precise worker with strong analytical and problemsolving skills (creative, critical, outofthebox thinker)
  • Strong personal organization skills are required
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills and proficient in English, basic knowledge of French is an advantage
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to drive projects

Additional considerations:

  • Knowledge of emerging technologies and motivation to implement innovative scientific strategy and lab operations
  • Experience in artificial intelligence and deep learning methods would be helpful
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, and provide possible solutions
  • Capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
