A propos du centre ou de la direction fonctionnelle:
The Inria centre at Université Côte d'Azur includes 37 research teams and 8 support services. The centre's staff (about 500 people) is made up of scientists of different nationalities, engineers, technicians and administrative staff.

The teams are mainly located on the university campuses of Sophia Antipolis and Nice as well as Montpellier, in close collaboration with research and higher education laboratories and establishments (Université Côte d'Azur, CNRS, INRAE, INSERM...), but also with the regiona economic players.

With a presence in the fields of computational neuroscience and biology, data science and modeling, software engineering and certification, as well as collaborative robotics, the Inria Centre at Université Côte d'Azur is a major player in terms of scientific excellence through its results and collaborations at both European and international levels.

Contexte et atouts du poste:

Quantum technologies is a relatively new field of science in the intersection of physics, engineer
- ing and mathematics. It promises to revolutionise many fields such as computation, communication
and metrology by exploiting unique properties of small-scale physical systems. It is known that
such systems are extremely difficult to manipulate due to their high sensitivity to external noises,
making them for many practical purposes quiet short-lived physical objects. For this reason time
factor becomes crucial. The goal of this project is to develop a general theory and algorithms
for optimal control of quantum systems via pulse controls, which is currently the fastest way of
controlling many real-world quantum systems.

Mission confiée:

Assignments:

  • Theoretical study of a class of optimal control problems with unbounded controls directly related to real quantum systems;
  • Developement of algorithms for numerical solution of the mentioned problem;
  • Applications to various quantum models (pointwise control of closed and open entangled superconducting qubits, gate generation and ensemble control of uncertain quantum systems);
  • Practical testing of obtained algorithm via IBM quantum cloud services.

Steering/Management:

The person recruited will be supervised by members of the teaam
