About the job

The Carbohydrate and Sweeteners team, part of the Advanced Technology R&I team, based in our brand new Research & Innovation Centre in Gif-sur-Yvette (91), is looking for a Carbohydrates and Sweetening Systems Senior Scientist.

The Carbohydrates and Sweetening System" team aims to:

Develop expertise on the physico-chemical and functional properties of carbohydrates, fibers and sweetening system, their functionality, interaction throughout the processes and their influence in the final matrix aligned with the business and the "One Planet One Health" vision.
Test and validate different formulations and technologies involving carbohydrates, fibers and sweetening system.
Define and implement the strategy and realisation of the STA (Scientific Technical Assets) related to carbohydrates, fibers and sweetening system
Work in collaboration with the other experts of the Advanced Techno team as needed in order to obtain a solution involving the necessary unit operations and interaction with other ingredients (formulation)
Manage synergies with other R&I (Research and Innovation) & D2D (Design to Delivery) functions (Engineering, Quality, Operations, Cycles & Procurement) to align with priorities and ensure efficient ways of working as "one team"

The purpose is either to obtain superiority/competitiveness of our products, or to gain productivity, or to contribute to the launch of a disruptive product innovation.

The main responsibilities of the role are:

to create, structure and implement the projects of the carbohydrates, fibers and sweetening system program according to the portfolio of STA projects

- to study the feasibility of new innovative and differentiating product concepts that bring nutritional benefits, taste improvement as well as develops product prototypes and establish proof of concepts
- to build projects in collaboration with internal and external partnerships, (e.g.academia, suppliers) in order to find faster and better solutions.
- to co-pilot the ingredient category with the Quality and C&P functions
- to file patents and prepare patent opposition files if applicable
- to implement mid and long term (H2/H3) projects and short term (H1) support according to the strategy defined by the department and the business
- to Manage projects / work packages of innovation projects related to carbohydrates and sweeteners and/or more broadly of the Carbohydrates and Sweeteners team
- to document discoveries and expertise, translate them into trainings and to deploy them to local teams.
- to manage the human and financial resources allocated to projects

Responsible for team management and development as well as allocating resources in projects and promoting team spirit.

- to contribute to the construction and animation of the network of experts and specialists within Danone and with the external ecosystem.
- to communicate and promote its results in the appropriate bodies
- to draft CIR (Crédit Impot Recherche) files in his/her field of activity
- to perform benchmarking and constant monitoring of competition in this territory

About you
We are looking for someone with the following profile:

Personal skills: business vision, curiosity, proactive, team spirit, autonomy, collaborative, openness, good communication skills
Training in Engineering, Food Technology, Food Science or PhD or similar fields.
Minimum professional experience of 810 years in the research and development of ingredients, technology and product formulations preferable on sweetening systems
Experience in project management
Expertise in carbohydrates, fibers, sweetening systems. (desirable)
Fluency in English, French is a plus
