Team Structure:

Working in the international business development (BD) and marketing team, the Paris BD Manager will provide BD support, advice and insight to all practice groups in Paris, helping our partners and their associate teams to grow their market reputation and revenues.

The Manager will be supported by a Business development assistant.

You will be based in the Paris office.

From its prominent starting position in banking and asset finance, the office has developed its capabilities in the areas of litigation, corporate, fund formation and private equity, debt capital markets, employment, competition and tax law.


As part of our strategy, we have identified five sectors in which to grow our business: decarbonisation, life sciences, private capital & funds, technology and transportation & trade.

Part of this role will be to ensure that the Paris office is represented across these areas.


The role reports into the Chief Business Development and Client Officer (based in London) and the BD partners in Paris. You will keep them regularly appraised of key activity and they will be able to support you in prioritizing your workload.

The international business development and marketing team focuses on the pillars of client development; practice group and sector business development; and brand, marketing and communications.


Main Responsibilities:

Strategic business planning

:

- work with the office Managing partner, BD partner and other partners to develop a business plan and appropriate marketing activities to support objectives across all legal teams
- ensure the execution of agreed activities and analysis of return on investment (ROI)

Client development

:

support the practice groups to continually enhance existing client relationships and identify growth opportunities with key clients

Pitch management and support - developing compelling bid responses (in English and in French) for current or new opportunities and maintaining and updating pitch content

Marketing materials
- liaise with the central brand and marketing team (based in London) to support the production of e-alerts and other marketing materials, ensuring that the format of all materials produced are in line with our brand guidelines.
- oversee the review and continuous improvement of the Paris office marketing materials, including capabilities statements, website and intranet content.

Digital

:

- maintain our presence on the Paris website pages and raise the profile of our lawyers (and the office) on key social media channels including LinkedIn.

Communications - work with the London communications team and a PR agency in Paris to raise our profile. You will write internal communications and work with the PR agency to draft press releases and assist with award submissions.

Directory submissions - work with the firm's preferred PR agency and fee earners to manage the submission process for the Paris office for legal directories, league tables and industry surveys, including Legal 500, Chambers, Décideurs, and Option Droit & Affaires (in English and French).

Events - support and project manage seminars, sponsorships, and other events pursued by the firm. You will produce and deliver outstanding client events and organise events with relevant industry stakeholders. You will also identify speaking and authorship opportunities with professional and trade organisations.

Research - keep track of competitor activity, the pipeline of market activity through external databases and spot and monitor industry trends.

CRM - create, manage and quality control marketing lists and champion the use and best practice of the firm's CRM system (InterAction).

New joiners - assist new joiners with all their BD needs (e.g. new professional portrait, CV, web profile and marketing materials).

International liaison - act as the key point of contact for all Paris BD-related queries, promptly responding to requests from partners and BD colleagues around the world. You will also work closely with international BD team and ensure they are kept up-to-date with upcoming projects through monthly international BD calls.

Budget management - work closely with the BD partner in Paris to monitor the BD budget and continually look to assess the return on investment of the money spent.

Team management - line management of a Business development assistant.


Attributes/Skills Required:

  • You will be of graduate calibre with at least four years of BD experience, ideally in a professional services environment. A strong ability in producing high quality pitch and marketing materials would be preferable and a proactive professional approach (to improve all BD actions specific to the different practice groups) is a must.
  • You must be fluent in French and English and be able to produce high quality written work in both languages.
