Description
Coordinate and implement the media relation activities at the ESA Headquarters in close coordination with the Senior Media Relations Manager for DG and France, the Communication Program Officers, the ESA and Space Community Engagement Office, the Outreach team and site services;

  • Coordinate and implement the media relation activities related to France and/or any other ESA Member State in the future, in particular Frenchspeaking;
  • In close cooperation with the ESA and Space Community Engagement Office, establish and manage the community of space journalists, who need in depth scientific, technological, political, and financial information and facilitate their access to ESA experts;
  • Plan, implement and evaluate engagement activities to foster a close engagement of the space journalists with ESA's programmes, e.g., background briefing events;
  • Keep a logfile for all media requests;
  • Contribute to media insight analysis;
  • Maintain and use relevant journalist and influencer databases;
  • Maintain the list of ESA spokespersons;
  • Deal with requests from media for interviews, information and support related to Headquarters and France ensuring the necessary level of message coherence and answering the journalist queries in a timely manner;
  • Organize interviews and briefings for individual journalists as appropriate;
  • Organize media events;
  • Ensure the newsroom and media relations processes are well implemented between the establishments;
  • Prepare, send, and update press releases and news releases.
  • A Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field;
  • At least 4 years of relevant professional experience in Communication disciplines and Media relations matters;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, e.g., communicating and interacting with individuals at all levels, and the capability of identifying priorities and handling high workload with a proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, as well as initiative and motivation to perform to high standards in a demanding environment;
  • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule;
  • An open multicultural attitude, while caring for accuracy on the job and trustworthiness;
  • Experience in an international organisation or multicultural working environment is an asset;
  • Working level proficiency of English, both written and spoken;
  • Working level proficiency of French, both written and spoken;
  • French mother tongue is an asset.
