Context:


In the ever changing world of the energy business high social and environmental performance of ENGIE's and GEMS' portfolio is important and indispensable for our "License to operate".

Within GEMS the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team is responsible to comply with ESG / Due diligence laws and Engie Group policies related to GEMS' business.

Together with colleagues from the strategy and carbon operations team we develop and implement strategies to push GEMS' ESG performance to a higher level.

We support the business in the discussions with our suppliers on the (contractual)ESG aspects and have discussions with experts on the different ESG.


Role:


  • You will perform Societal & Environment (S&E) risks assessment of GEMS' activities (physical and financial commodity trading, natural gas, carbon credits, (renewable) power, green gas,).
  • You will identify, propose and monitor the implementation of mitigation measures together with the business (ESG contractual conditions, contractual management of counterparties).
  • You document and report the risks assessments, the supply chain performance and mitigation measures identified.
  • You will perform benchmark of existing S&E standards and guidance against ENGIE's standards and policies.
  • You will analyze the impact of relevant (upcoming) ESG legislations and supports GEMS to implement and comply with these legislations.
  • You will propose and develop efficient methods for S&E risks assessment and monitoring, together with relevant internal stakeholders.

Hard skills:


Must have:


  • Logical and analytical thinking skills and be able to structure information and generate reports and analysis based on collected information;
  • Project and time management experience;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office tools.

Good to have:


  • Experience in environmental and social risk assessments and reporting;
  • Knowledge of how GEMS' business operates;
  • Regulatory and/or legal environment is a plus.

  • Autonomy and organizational skills;
  • Problem solving approach;

  • Team player, with good interpersonal skills;
  • Sensitivity and understanding.

Education and professional background:


  • You have a technical or legal University degree
  • You have at least 2 years' professional experience, preferably in the energy sector.

Languages:


  • Strong communication skills in English (oral and written)

Travels:


  • You will meet colleagues in Brussels/Paris and other office locations of GEMS
  • Working from home is possible in consultation with the team.
