Location/Division Specific Information


Our Research & Safety Market Division in Europe is building a link between business and science as the industry's definitive single source channel for a comprehensive range of laboratory equipment, chemicals, instruments, life sciences, and consumable supplies.

Operating in a regional structure we have sales offices and logistics centres in 18 countries across Europe that are strategically located to provide timely and adaptable deliveries to our customers.


A Day in the life


The Sales Operations function is a key enabler to the success of the Organization in realizing its objectives and achieving profitable growth.

This is a pivotal role in that team; using data, reporting and analytics to inform and contribute to strategic decisions, drive sales team behaviour, measure success and find opportunities for profitable growth.


Working within a team of analysts, you will assume responsibility for a segment and country approach, working closely with sales leadership to ensure a consistent European approach drives local success.


Key responsibilities

  • Support the Sales Planning & Compensation Manager in the design and creation of data management routines and core sales processes such as AOP and forecasting from a technical perspective
  • Perform analysis and recommend adjustments to incentive programmes to drive desired salesperson behaviour to support corporate initiatives
  • Maintain accurate employee to account assignments, customer grouping data, sales team hierarchy data and customer identification flags e.g. Programme accounts by processing and auditing requests for data changes and running regular data cleansing and maintenance routines.
  • Educate and train the sales team on how their compensation plans work and how to maximise commissions using the various components of the compensation plans.
  • Develop and maintain variable incentive compensation plan forecasts
  • Work closely with other divisions to ensure data exchanged is accurate and credible on which to base specific sales and compensation reporting
  • Work within the team to develop and implement productivity metrics and reporting, sales performance and territory analysis to support territory planning
  • Work within Sales Effectiveness and across other departments to develop, implement, and support Sales initiatives and customer level profit improvement projects
  • Design, develop, and implement account mapping, forecasting and efficiency files and analysis tools.
  • Provide sales and customer data and build appropriate templates to facilitate the AOP definition, distribution and forecasting processes.
  • Utilise Business Intelligence tools to design and develop automated reporting to support sales teams with analysis and recommendations

Keys to Success

  • Degree level or minimum 3 years relevant experience.
  • Advanced database and Excel skills; SQL, COGNOS and Power BI experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as an Analyst, accounting and financial principles, or with data.
  • Prior experience in implementing sales compensation plans is desirable.
  • Evidence of work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstration of strong project management, time management and customer engagement skills in order to manage several priorities and work within timescales.
  • Make logical assumptions, identify trends, collate external and internal information, draw conclusions from ambiguous data, and effectively benchmark results against appropriate baselines.
  • Prior experience with Business Intelligence tool reporting is of advantage but not essential.
  • English: Full professional proficiency (verbal and spoken); multiple European language proficiency desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written, oral and presentation skills) and the ability to present results/recommendations effectively with Senior Management
