As part of a global organization serving multiple business units, the senior hardware design engineer develops the architecture for new hardware component systems and platforms.

He formulates the blueprints for hardware systems, making strategic decisions on the selection and design of the individual components required.


The senior hardware design engineer ensures compatibility and integration with software, and diagnoses and resolves component bugs and malfunctions by actively collaborating with software engineers.

He understands the software engineers' needs and limitations, fostering a strong working relationship between the hardware and software resources and facilitating seamless system operation.

As our

Senior Hardware Design Engineer

, you'll support HID's success by:


  • Determining hardware Requirements: Working in conjunction with product management, supply chain, as well as software and mechanical engineers, ascertaining the requirements and ensuring seamless compatibility and integration of the designed solution.

Developing Hardware Architecture: Formulating the architecture for new or existing hardware component systems. This includes creating or modifying detailed schematic designs for hardware systems and platforms, as well as PCB layout and BOM creation

Hardware POCs: Creating a functional model or prototype to demonstrate the feasibility of a concept, ensuring it meets the intended goals

Debugging: Diagnosing and resolving component bugs and malfunctions. This also requires in-depth technical knowledge and the ability to foresee potential issues at the intersection of hardware and software.

Testing and Validation: Overseeing the testing and validation of hardware designs, ensuring they meet all necessary functional, performance, as well as safety, and environment standards (EMI/EMC).

Technical Documentation: Documenting the design and testing process and preparing detailed reports on test results, analytics, and performances, along with potential improvements.


What we will love about your background:

  • Advanced hardware knowledge with a comprehensive understanding of digital and analog circuits, processors, memory, and other hardware components.
  • Proficiency in systemlevel design, including aspects like signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management and radio emissions.
  • Experience with design tools such as schematic/PCB and mechanical design.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (PCB and assembly and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards and Regulations such as FCC, CE and ISO.
  • Deep knowledge of RF designs and technologies from LF to UHF.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, Python can be beneficial.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping techniques and tools, such as breadboards or 3D printers, can be beneficial.
  • Experience with hardware simulation tools can be beneficial.
  • Autonomy and proactivity.
  • Ability to collaborate and work with multicompetency, crossfunctional teams globally.
  • Clear and efficient oral and written communication.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work in Agile environment.

Your Experience and Education include:


  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years of hardware development engineering in a team environment
  • Experience in prototyping, bringup, debugging and validation
  • Ability to understand and identify product tradeoffs (power, performance, etc.) and optimize designs to meet requirements
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems with a focus on meeting tight constraints (i.e. power, size)
  • Strong wireless system design experience (RFID, BLE, Wifi, and other IoT and realtime localization technologies )
  • Additional knowledge in following areas: CPU/SOC, power(DC-DC converters, battery, power management, low power design), analog circuits,
  • Sensor design and integration, as well as security, is a plus.
  • Experience of working with Jira/Confluence is a plus
  • Experience with a test case management tool, preferably TestRail
