About the team/job


The EMBL network (European Molecular Biology Laboratory) comprises of 6 laboratories located in Grenoble (France), Heidelberg and Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK), Barcelona (Spain) and Rome (Italy).

This network of laboratories and services (data banks, analysis and research tools) in molecular biology "encourages cooperation between European states in basic research, the development of modern instrumentation and the development of advanced teaching in molecular biology and other essentially related fields of research; to this end, it concentrates its activities on tasks which are neither not usually undertaken nor easily carried out in national institutions", according to the terms of the intergovernmental agreement that gave rise to it.


For our laboratory in Grenoble, we are looking for a Laboratory Helper to work as part of our Laboratory Support Services on a full-time basis (39 hours per week) for an initial 6-month contract.

Training will be provided for this role.


Your role

Main duties:

  • Rinse, dry and store glassware, plasticware and other laboratory materials;
  • Produce media and buffers according to standard protocols, cast agars;
  • Preparation of products for sterilization and autoclave operation;
  • Autoclaving and disposal of biological;
  • Various tasks in the cleaning room;
  • Management, control and safe storage of laboratory solvents and gases;
  • Control the stock of dry ice;
  • Assist and follow the removal of chemical waste;
  • Filling of liquid nitrogen gas tanks
  • Entry of delivery slips and processing purchases (all types of purchases).
  • Inventory and stock control, including annual inventory participation.
  • Participate in the lab committee meetings
  • Additional related tasks to provide support for absent colleagues.
  • Additional various tasks related to your role in the laboratory may be required.

You have

  • Willingness to perform routine tasks.
  • Reliable, independent and highquality work.
  • Native French or English speaker with good knowledge of other language
  • Experience in biological laboratory is a plus.
