- Lead and manage technology development activities for P&PD and work with stakeholders/functional leads on the vision and prioritization of technology efforts
- Manage capital, resources and planning for technology development
- Foster technology development collaborations across the organization including with Discovery, Molecular Design, Data Science, Information System, Manufacturing, and Tech Ops
- Foster and support technology collaborations externally with partners, consortia, vendors, etc. to further our platforms and capabilities
- Lead the Platform meeting and Technology Forum and ensure strong communication between the groups
- Provide updates on technology efforts to management, including the Just-Evotec Biologics Leadership Team
- Lead the P&PD lab automation group and work with stakeholders on the vision and prioritization of lab automation efforts
- Serve as a point of contact for and participate in workstreams with IS and Labkey on updates and evolution of Labkey
- Develop and refine regulatory communication both written and face-to-face
- Be a key member and contributor to the P&PD Leadership Team
- Serve as a key technical resource for P&PD, Discovery, Molecular Design, Data Science, IS, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory, as well as for Business Development, clients, and process development team
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotech Engineering, or related life science engineering.
- 7+ years relevant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences
- Established record of successful project completions employing proven engineering and project management skills
- Strong control system automation background including design, installation, programming, troubleshooting and validation of automated processes.
- Experience and proficiency with standard laboratory automation equipment (liquid handlers, plate handlers, analytical instruments, etc.)
- The capability of developing and/or utilizing software scripts (e.g. C, Python, JMP, R, SQL, Ladder logic) to handle data or control instruments.
- Proficient with automation platforms, especially with DeltaV and/or Ignition
- Working knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and regulatory regulations and requirements (FDA CFR 21 Part 11 and EMA Annex 11) for biologics/pharmaceuticals
- Leverage experience of Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GAMP) framework for risk-based approach to computer system validation
- Candidate must possess strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal, team, and communication skills are a must.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French will be a plus.
- Experience in computer software validation in both writing test scripts and executing test protocols is strongly preferred.
- Experience with hardware prototyping (CAD software, 3D-printing, electrical schematics)
- Experience with robotics product development, particularly for Bioengineering/Pharma laboratories
- Experience with single-use technologies and systems
- Experience in supporting audits and inspections by health authorities and other external auditors.
- Proficiency developing and executing CSV plans and protocols.

This position will be responsible for leading and managing the Product & Process Development (P&PD) technology development portfolio, as well as leading the P&PD lab automation group.
