Description
Sit with the Property underwriters.

Work in proximity with underwriters to maintain and develop a profitable SBS' portfolio by handling various underwriting support related activities.


  • Proactively handle (or supervise) the preunderwriting process including handling of submissions, data capture (DCS), nat cat modelling and pricing. Ensure accuracy of data entered in systems, check validity of models output, binding.
  • Contribute to efficient underwriting analysis and accurate benchmarking.
  • Carryout the contract administrative duties regarding preparation of legal referrals, ensure complete underwriting files, client creation in systems and preparation of underwriting checklists.
  • Liaise/communicate with internal and external stakeholders to handle contractual documentation, technical accounting, premium closing, claims notifications and jointunderwriting approvals.
  • Produce regular and adhoc reports related to marketing, underwriting and claims activities

Key duties and responsibilities

under supervision of Underwriters:


  • Manage opportunities entering of enquiries, quotes, new and renewal business and endorsements into core underwriting administrative systems in accordance with underwriting process and to required level of accuracy.
  • Research on submissions using appropriate sources e.g. Exclusive Analysis, Internet etc.
  • Download UW submissions, provide instructions to TAs and fill out sanctions questionnaire/KYC screening
  • Provide preunderwriting and rating support to Underwriters. Analyse renewals and changes focusing on SI, LOL, deductibles, rates, deductions, sublimits. Perform benchmark comparing by occupancy by countries and completing benchmarking table/spreadsheet. Help underwriting teams manage their book of business, ensuring completion of tasks in a timely and errorfree manner
  • Manage premium calculation sheets update and contractual documentation follow up with brokers
  • Organise data in DCS (instructions/queries), or supervise accuracy through data verification and integrity checks.
  • Legal Referrals including: Fac Cert/Reinsurance Terms and Conditions, NDA/Lender's Clauses, Sanctions Clause, Antimoney laundering/antiterrorism financing, Cancellation Clause etc
  • Create new clients on SalesForce, execute KYC Bridger Screening, Prepare CC/UW Checklists, Followup on policy wordings
  • Followup and identify discrepancies on technical accounting premium & closing

Clarify premium issues:
tax, breakdown, terrorism premium etc.

  • Claims notification management: identify contracts, shares, limits, reserving etc.
  • Partner with SCOR's corporate resources (Data Capture Services, Technical Accounting) in support of underwriting teams
  • Find/propose ways to improve/adapt the underwriting process through simplification and/or automation. Liaise with the Chief Technical Officer team to discuss and implement changes.
  • Work closely with Marketing & Distribution/Finance/Claims team to ensure production of accurate report related to marketing, underwriting and claims.

Required experience & competencies

Experience:


  • Working experience in international insurance, or reinsurance company or broker preferred

Personal Competences:

IT or data analytics abilities. A taste and track record for solution finding / problem solving, involving process improvements and/or automation and/or development of ad-hoc agile solutions (like Excel macros.)

Required Education

  • Tertiary.
  • Insurance and/or Reinsurance knowledge would be preferable.
