Local Unit & Position Description:


DNV Maritime is looking for a Key Account Manager (KAM) located in France for Area Benelux & France, working primarily in France and Monaco.

Area Benelux & France is part of the Maritime Region West Europe and consists of a team of approximately 73 (committed employees taking care of various technical services. I

These services are related to the following disciplines:
CMC - Certification of Materials and Components for vessels and offshore installations.

VMC/VCA - Verification of Materials and Components for equipment or installations outside certification or classification requirements.

NB - New Building classification for vessels and offshore installations.


In addition, the area of responsibility of the Key Account Manager covers the clients of our Fleet in Service activities with 25 surveyors as well as our Maritime Advisory service.

We aim to be the front-runner in innovation, digitalization and customer-centricity. For various disciplines, new regimes are continuously introduced. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, 3D printing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels, and now heading towards autonomous shipping. Customer needs and footprint reduction are key elements in this.

The Key Account Manager will report to the Area Business Development Manager.


Main tasks:


  • Build and strengthen relations with key decision makers and influencers within the assigned Key Accounts, enabling deep understanding and foresight of their needs and building a foundation for achieving a preferred supplier status.
  • Together with the Account Team, create and execute customercentric Key Account Plans with impactful goals, strategy and actions that ultimately lead to identifying and securing new business, retaining existing business and ensuring high customer satisfaction.
  • Define, lead, coordinate and motivate within and work collaboratively with all virtual teams across DNV to ensure strategy execution.
  • Identify and develop sales opportunities to capture new business and keep track of customers' existing contract portfolios to ensure renewal of agreements within the due date.
  • Monitor and report the sales funnel and the performance of the assigned Key Accounts.
  • Lead and support customer satisfaction review and identify and cascade within DNV any major challenges and concerns related to the DNV interaction with the account.
  • Team up with the Technical Service Manager (TSM) or the equivalent to the TSM to ensure technical support and aftersales service beyond the surveyor network, our contact tools, and the Operation Centers
  • Proactively stays up to date with industry and market trends and best practices, as well as DNV products, services, and processes, to remain relevant towards customers and prospects.
  • Be responsible for the accuracy of customer master data and activity data related to the assigned key accounts as defined in our internal rules.
  • Support resolving critical invoicing claims and follow up critical accounts' receivables in close cooperation with Finance to ensure timely payment and solution
  • Hunt for and drive new business opportunities beyond assigned key accounts.
  • Support marketing activities and events within the area.

Competence needs:


  • Education to degree standard; degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred
  • Five years of experience within the maritime industry
  • Commercial awareness and a customercentric mindset
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Fluent business French and English
